some pics for ID or just for lookings
    #27081346 - 12/09/20 11:19 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Good day everyone. Been lurking this site for years and years and this is really my first post. Been enjoying mushies for all those years, but this is my first year hunting.  I'm comfortable identifying p. cyans but not much else.  That's basically all I look for, but I came across many interesting specimens today in my search and I don't know what most of them are. I know the one image has cyan look-a-alikes but what are they? Thought I'd post these for ya'll to potentially ID, or just to look at and talk about if it suits your fancy.  I'm kind of excited about this new hobby and about actually participating on this board for once.

I live in Seattle. It rained hard yesterday and the weather is fairly mild for december, hovering around 50 degrees lately. I knew there would be a lot of action today. Following photos were taken at Discovery Park, Ravenna Park, and Woodland Park, if you're familiar with the area. A lot of the locations had a lot of ground bark, a lot of short and tall grass, some blackberry bushes, a lot of logs and dead stumps. Everything is mossy and fertile and moist in Seattle at the moment.  If any of you could just throw out potential species that some of these could be, then I can go do research and look at photos and that's a good way for me to learn.

Appreciate all your help and knowledge!

Looks like Mycena, Coprinellus, Mycena, Coprinellus.

Hard to pinpoint Mycena species without knowing all the details. Coprinellus is a little easier because the genus is not as big. Based on the pics though, I’d say Coprinellus micaceous, or Coprinellus micaceous group.

wonderful, thank you!  That is immensely helpful.  I have a couple more interesting ones. The last one was with a sparse, tattered group of cyans. Fresh, it appeared bright translucent white and was wafer frail and TINY.  What is up with that?  Is it a runt cyan?

How about Sarcomyxa, Tremella, Mycetinis?

Please don't be afraid to pick a specimen and get good up close clear pictures of the cap, gills and stem including the entire stem base. We need to see all those areas when identifying certain mushrooms. The in situ photos are also helpful, I don't remember seeing a general location so please include that as well because it helps us to rule out certain species. We are happy to help you learn and it would help us to help you if you would use the id request template and provide as much information as possible. Best of luck and happy hunting.

Heya Doc, thanks for the reminders. I'll definitely try and get more pics of the different characteristics next time. I hadn't known I'd be posting these on this forum or surely I would've at least photo'd the gills.

All mushrooms here were found in Seattle, WA in various parks in the city proper.

That is a synonymous name for Sarcomyxa serotinus.
