Possible way to get IPs from shroomery posts.

If someone were to put an image in a post that they host on their server would it not be possible to get the ip of shroomery users by comparing the server logs with the posts timestamps? I know some of these pictures are actually server scripts that can get info from the users web browser. Maybe I'm just being paranoid....

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking but ... If someone posted a picture it would be possible for the hosted server or ISP to see: The time of the post The IP of the poster The IP of the server the poster sent the file to The IP's/and time that requested the picture (basicallly whomever had the picture in their browser)
And quite possibly what domain you clicked into the picture from and where you cliicked out of to leave.

As we have said before... if you want to remain anonymous on the internet then you need to be using a proxy. Yes, people can serve images from their own server and put them in posts. Yes, their own server can log those ip addresses. Yes, you can pick up a cookie with the image off of their server. No, there is nothing the shroomery can do to prevent this from happening. If you are concerned about these sorts of things, use proxies, firewalls, public computers, etc... A few additional thoughts... It would be almost impossible to link an IP from another server to a given member here. We get a lot of traffic... over time somebody might be able to narrow it down by comparing who is logged in on the who list (assuming the person isn't invisible), but even then it would be a guess at best.
