Found this in an old Christmas tree farm . Central Oregon cascade foothills. .

Gills:
White gills attached the stipe

White short stocky stem

The cap is big curvy about five inches white

Spore print color:
Very important!

Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and 9955-E7EF25C76E72.jpg][/url]

Not a chanterelle! This is an agaric. Probably in the Lactarius genus. Chantrelles are not agarics; they do not have gills.

If it is a Lactarius species it may still be edible. Check for any latex or "milk" that is exuded when you break it. Taste a little bit and tell us if it is peppery. Don't worry, a nibble of a poisonous mushroom will not hurt you if you spit it out.

i would say milky lactarius too, because of the light gills, check the latex thing, if positive its toxic, if its red or orange inside its an edible lactarius
