growing B+ in bags
    #2708066 - 05/20/04 07:42 PM (19 years, 10 months ago)

I am trying to grow B+ in presterilized bags. How long should i expect to wait before mycelium will grow. Does the type of substrate affect this?

Welcome to the Shroomery b plus!

The time of germination depends largely upon the inccubation conditions that you create for the bags.

Room temp= Slow Germination and Growth
Ideal Temps 86deg F = optimum growth

You should see some growth in as few as 3 days and as long as two weeks depending on the conditions and the viability of the spores.

The substrate does make a difference in the speed of the myc growth.
Pf tek is slower, for instance than WBS tek.

Listen b plus, since you are a newbie I will be the first to let you know that there are is an abundance of information available in the cultivation and FAQ section of the Shroomery! Do yourself a favor and read a lot and inform yourself. It is fun to read and doing so will prevent you from getting told in a not so nice way sometimes that you need to read before you ask a question on the forums. Sometimes people get a little snitty with those who ask a lot of questions when it is obvious that they havent read any of the basic info available on the site. Your questions will be quite welcome, however,so dont be afraid to ask about anything that you have read that needs some clearing up!

Good Luck
MYKEY

I'm on day 11 and there is no myc growth... is this cause for concern?

I would give it four or five more days yet before I got too worried.
What is the substrate ?
Spore syringe from vendor or homeade?
What are the temps where the bags are kept?
Just a couple of questions to help to better understand the situation.

I have 3 bags: corn, wood chips, and grain. they were at 75 degrees, but now they are at 86 and the humidity is very high. The spores were from a vendor.

I dont think cubensis will grow on wood chips. You should see growth on the other two within a week or so.

The myc will grow very fast on the corn!! Once you see about one third of it covered in myc just kinda break it up by mushing the bag around a little and you will speed up the colonization a bunch.

Your cubes wont like the wood chips though! The grain and corn will do fine ,but I think you can count the wood chip bag as a loss.

Have fun with your grow and keep us posted.
