A couple days ago I was dropping agar pucks into grain jars.

The pucks are wider than the mouths of the jars, so I was slicing the agar up into 4 pieces and dropping those in with a scalpel.

One of my 4 sections had by far the most growth on it. Nicest growth too. Its origins were MS.

I dropped the transfer, mycelium down, on the bottom of the wet SAB.

After a moment’s pause, internally contemplating whether the 3-second rule could apply, I resigned myself to my fate and just transferred the remaining sections.

The good news is, the growth coming off the remaining bits is actually some of the fastest of the 4 jars!

I usually do the tic-tac-toe to my 100mm petris... and against common advice, I tend to let my plates grow too long so the mycelium can reach the edge and hold on... ill have edge bits flip off to the side all the time... lol

Got lazy and didn't clean my SAB very thoroughly, ended up contaming every single active plate I had and every single jar I did that day :c

"CLEAN YO SHIT" - Josex, though I think he's referring to something else.

It's not a total loss as I have a bunch of jars already started from before, so I'll be taking prints and clones from those, and in the mean time I can finally get around to trying out some new stuff from you beautiful people on the shroomery

found a pretty old plate which started pinning, so I thought I get some neat clones going.
the project turned into tons of ugly mutations and weird looking siamese twins (no offense).

I had a clumsy SAB session the other day and also dropped a wedge on the SAB floor, and wondered pretty much the same thing - does the 5 second rule apply, lol  I also decided dammit no.

I then ending up flipping the lid of the LI jar onto the SAB floor. I put it back on, shook it uo and used it anyway, so I'm fully expecting the grain jars I inoculated with it to turn terrible.
Now that I think about it, I don't know why I put the agar puck in that water jar after dropping the lid. I could have just dropped wedges to grain but that honestly didn't occur to me at the time.

I got super duper high and opened a bottle of agar fresh out of the pc before realizing I should be in front of the flow hood. I poured the plates anyhow. What do you think the chances of any of them not getting contaminated are?

just threw out about 100 stalling (probably bacterial) bags which I inoculated with  a super clean looking LC. Moral of the story: test your LC first (or don't use LC at all, g2g is safer)

How long does it take you to make 100 bags?
that sounds like weeks of work in the compost. ( aka $1000s in time)

How big are your spawn bags?
How many runs a day are you doing with how many pcs? I can only make eight 4# grain bags in a day. Almost 40#s of grain.
If i doubled that then fucked it all up  i would be devastated.

I usually run 13- 4 lb bags at a time in my 75x. This wonderfully equals one 40 lb bag of bird seed, so it makes prep nice and simple, but yes it’s definitely a bummer and a stupid mistake and a waste of 40 lbs of grains. I left my timer on outlet mode instead of timer mode.... oh well.. you live and learn! I shan’t be making that mistake again!
