A health care worker who refuses to get this vaccine has no business being in that job. Unfortunately I think there are more Karens working in hospitals than one would expect.

I think they mostly live out in the country. I've met a couple though. what really blows my mind is how many CNAs get all angry about having to do the nasopharyngeal swab. i swab staff and residents at LTC facilities, prisons, SNFs etc. as a side gig a few times a month and I've noticed that the doctors and nurses never yank their heads back, get a mean expression on their face, and cuss you, but the CNAs do. They will say things like "You're putting it in too far."
Um, excuse me? No. I am putting it in as far as it needs to go. And literally everyone should know by now, if you're getting this kind of swab, it's going to hurt. Just fucking deal with it. I have to get swabbed. The doctors have to get swabbed. Your patients have to get swabbed. WE ARE ALL GOING THROUGH THIS AND I AM NOT SINGLING YOU OUT FOR 'EXTRA PAIN'. But don't act like I am the bad guy here. Your facility probably had an outbreak and got mandated to be tested by the county because the CNAs werent taking PPE protocols seriously to begin with but hey
I digress
like I said everyone I know there and everyone I overheard was emphatically responding yes.

looks like about 220k cases today... which is a pretty big ouch for a tuesday. it was 181 cases last tuesday. tuesdays are usually when cases start to really start spiking high again for the week, and last friday's high was 230k cases, when that's usually the worst of the week by far. we might very well hit 300k cases this friday if not higher, and 3000-3300 deaths daily this week or more.

We were starting to go back down right before thanksgiving. We may be at testing limits as well. Five hour lines will discourage a lot of people, especially those who are sick to begin with. I think anyone sick at this point knows what they got anyways. If I were sick I wouldn’t wait in a line just to find out what I already knew.

only a slight dip though. i wouldn't say that was us getting a handle on things, necessarily. it could simply be because people were starting to go on vacation for the holiday - including the people who were doing the reporting on covid cases, leading to fewer cases being reported. it's not like people always take ONLY thanksgiving or the day before thanksgiving off. sometimes people take the entire week off before it or after. it couldve also been a rush of people getting tested a few days before thanksgiving before they flew off for the holidays (due to needing time for processing test results) resulting in a spike then a seeming decrease.
so i wouldn't say it's necessarily the case we were getting a grip on things. not by a long shot.

Do yall really have long wait times for COVID tests? my family told me they didnt have to wait at all either time. they just drove right up immediately and got tested. I've seen shots online of lines out the door in places. Do some states just not offer free testing? Here you can get tested for free an unlimited number of times even if you have no particular reason to be getting tested. you just sign up and go

Nah I think it was legit. People do actually change their behavior when they start hearing that cases are exploding.

The national guard does it here. There's constantly a line. But is a line of cars you roll the window down to get swabbed.

I had to have a few operations the day before Thanksgiving, so they told me to go get a COVID test. I went to the hospital, they did the swab, and I had results in about 4 hours. Maybe it's different, though, because I went to a private hospital and had insurance.
The labs around me like Quest and Labcorp are booked solid through the end of the year, though.

wtf. The national gaurd only swabbed here for like a month. The county hires nurses and EMTs to do it now.
I guess yalls local governments arent doing as much as mine. Not saying that to be insulting, theres plenty of things i hate about texas. But they were able to roll out strategies for dealing covid seemingly much faster and more extensively than elsewhere. Having the largest medical complex in the world probably helps a bit

I got a covid test at CVS, they send you a q-tip through the drive-up window. I got one at the covid leopard colony and a flu test. I had the flu, no covid.

That’s impressive. You’re one of 17 people in the United States to test positive for the flu in the past week

It really is. Something like 6 million people have tested positive for covid since the end of September, and crazy horse gets the disease that only 429 have tested positive for. He should be playing the lottery.
