How fluffy should 70/30 straw/poo be for bulk?

I know when working with straight straw, after laying down your spawn, one should push down with all his might to compact the straw. But what about working with a 70/30 straw to poop mixture? Should it still be compacted down that hard, or should it be fluffed up a bit? Thanks.

Heavy on the straw side-----compact it

Heavy on the poo side---keep it nice and fluffy

Loosley packed straw makes for too many large gaps that make it hard for the myc to colonize in a speedy fashion. It is also a good idea to sprinkle a half inch or so of straight poo over the mix after you have packed it down to help keep out unwanted contams. This comes into play more in the later phases of the casings life because the straw is a little more prone to contamination than the poo.

Good Luck,
MYKEY
