Are these Amanita Muscaria var. Persicina? 1

Hi all, I'm writing from the Florida Trail where I just found these Amanitas right by Big Fork Creek, just a few miles west of Mossy Head, under Pine trees. They look too peachy/orangeish to be the yellow variety Guessowii and not red enough to be Flavivolvata. My best guess based on descriptions is that they are the variety Persicina, but I'm not sure. What say ye? I'm carrying them with me for now, so if you need a better pic or identifying characteristic let me know. I read that they are both psychoactive and poisonous if not properly prepared. Looking for more info on that part as well. Can I prepare them in a way to preserve the psychoactivity but do away with poisons or just make them edible and not psychoactive? Thanks!

Hey, I found those before too, when I lived near Mossy Head. Are there actually any psychoactive Amanitas in the state of Florida?

Amanita persicina is now its own species closely related to A. muscaria. This is definitely A. persicina

Well after posting I came across two more big beautiful amanitas, of a redder variety (also shiny skin on cap and starting to brown in center) growing next to each other right on the trail under some pine trees. Here are pics. Can someone tell me if these are Flavivolvata? And I'm still looking to find out more about whether these are psychoactive, or poisonous, or both, and if they can be prepared in a way that is safe, even if just for culinary use? For now, pending further investigation, I'm drying them out.

As far as I am aware A. muscaria doesn't occur in Florida, so it's almost definitely all A. persicina

Alright, so it seems they're almost definitely persicina. And from what I can find, poisonous amanitas, such as destroying angel and death cap, look vastly different. Any reddish poisonous look-alikes to be aware of?
Also from what I can find, it seems these are psychoactive like muscaria and can be processed the same way to convert the ibotenic acid. Any holes in my hypotheses? Anyone tried these?

Dude, you are in Florida, I would just stick with the copes and cubes
I wont go into the horrible side effects that happened to a buddy of mine when he consumed muscaria. It was down right frightening though!

Did your friend boil them as recommended to convert the ibotenic acid?

Yes, he boiled them and made tea. The strange thing was, the first times he ate them he got absolutely nothing from them, then that last time, he went insane, and I never heard from him again.
Then, about a year after that, I saw him barely able to walk in a Walmart parking lot, with a nurse helping him get his groceries loaded up in a nursing home van.
I'm not saying that the mushrooms caused this to happen to him, but he was totally fine before that bad trip, and after that he stopped talking to me, and ended up totally moving out of his house, out of nowhere.

Wow, those are horrible side effects. My idea is to microdose and get familiar. And, following the advice in the video below, if I don't feel anything from microdosing two or three times, NOT to continue, NOT to increase the dosage, but rather to wait until some other time and try microdosing again. I have to admit though, there is something synchronistic about how these amanitas appeared in my path just a couple months after I started thinking about how I really want to try them at some point in my lifetime. I wasn't even looking for them. Might be my christmas present from nature.

My buddy overdid it most likely. He did two huge caps, and took some of that concentrated extract. He actually had been trying to get something from both for a few days in a row, and I bet that last trip did him in because he already had so much built up in his system. This is all I can think of as to why he went insane.

I found lower doses helped my anxiety. 2 of my friends pissed themselves and puked a good amount. I am not in any way recomending to eat them as they really arent that great for most people. Plus i am paranoid about not converting all the ibotenic acid.

Yeah, from what I've been learning, two huge caps is way overboard. There's a lot of great info on that yt channel "Amanita Dreaming". I was able to confirm from it that persicina can indeed be used like muscaria (and is in fact the main one that the lady who does the videos for that channel from Georgia uses). She really emphasizes small dose size, even for recreational dose, not just micro dosing. Bunch of stuff about ibotenic acid conversion and its pros and cons as well. I'm drying the ones I got with Damp Rid in tupperware bcause, as a vandweller, I don't have an oven for it. But she says drying with heat helps turn about 30% of the ibotenic acid into muscimol. Another percentage happens at boiling. But she also recommends a lemon tek that I'm going to look into which also converts the ibotenic acid. According to her though, it isn't necessarily desirable to eliminate all the ibotenic acid, but to moderate the dosage, as ibotenic acid can have health benefits in small quantities. Also I'm still trying to home in on what is a good starting microdose. She boils 15 dry grams into a tea, then separates it into 4 shots, 3 of which she stores in the freezer for weeks, and one of which she puts in the fridge to be consumed within one week. It goes bad quickly, and I don't use a freezer or fridge, so I'm either going to boil I guess around 3 or 4 grams at a time or figure out how to do an alcohol tincture for long term storage and make it all in one go.

I've read a lot of people saying it helped their anxiety. Works as a GABA agonist. The Amanita Dreamer lady says she cured herself of benzodiazepine dependence using it (also implicating the GABA receptors).

I hope the pissing of the pants was from taking too large doses. But pissing pants is nothing. I've shat myself (and puked plenty) with ayahuasca

Thanks so much for sharing things. Amanitas have been popping up in many facets of my life for decades, mostly recently in the form of a perisicina in very familiar territory. While I have never partaken, these videos have got me reassessing my understanding of them.
