You can put an alert (Keepa) on Amazon's listing and get it for much less. I did it in August and ended up paying $83.36.

I don't know if this was directed at me. But I have my PID hooked up to a 23 qt presto. It will work on any PC. But it is best to have a pressure gauge on the PC though. Set the PID to 255F and that should be just a little over 15 psi.
If you are talking about just putting weight on the rocker I would only do it with a PC that has a pressure gauge because the rocker will not rock anymore. So there is no way to know the pressure without a pressure gauge.
You can of course add a pressure gauge to any PC.

Is it ok to spawn to bulk (wood/soy hulls) using spawn that has started fruiting? I guess I left it too long in the bag.

My bags are 8" X 5" X 20". Is this correct size for the 5-6 lbs sub?

Yes, mine are 8″X5″X19″ so you will be fine. My bags say 5-7 lbs.

seems so tight in them and hard to mix well.

Tie the bag at the very top. Then pour down the long side and keep flipping the bag repeating the process.

So you measure out 50/50 soy hull and hardwood pellets . And mix these all together then hydrate , then PC?
Do you need to do anything special when mixing them like some sort of pasturization ? Or just soak them all together for the appropriate time and mix them as best as possible before pc

Why would you need to pasteurize if you're putting them in the pressure cooker?

I understand that would be irrelevant , but maybe would help mix the contents thoroughly . Basically I’m just asking what the mixing process looks like.

You can do your best to mix in the pre-sterilization stage, but the really thorough mixing typically comes when you mix in spawn. I like to mix dry, then apply water, which usually ends up with some parts being more wet than others, then doing the moisture distribution with the spawn.

Alright I’m really confused .
Are we not ...
Mixing the 50/50 hardwood and soy hull
Hydrating it
Sterilizing it
Then dropping colonized agar wedges in SAB
Then fruiting chamber once fully colonized ?

You got the process wrong first you fill the bag with soy hulls and fuel pellets give the bag a little shake then you put in the water I keep doing this until I have 10 or so bags open on my desk. Then I go back to the 1st bag that has now absorbed most of the water fold the bag and put it in the steamer and run the cycle. I let the bags cool then I put spawn in the bags and seal with a reclosable zip tie. Because it has been through the steam cycle the pellets will fall apart like nothing. Now you mix the spawn in through the bag. Doing it this way will save you the time of mixing twice.

look in my sig for how to get the water content to 60% every time easily.

This will result in a very slow colonization but will probably work. I like to colonize ryeberries first, then dump ryeberries into sterilized wood block. Mix thoroughly.
This gives you a ton of inoculation points instead of just one - it makes your block colonize faster which is nice on it's own but that speed also helps to outcompete any potential contamination that might be present in the block.

Gotya so your colonizing grain first( rye berries is this case ) then dumping em in the sterilized soy hull / pellets bags .
Def seems more effective as far as nocc points , though I thought the whole point of colonizing on wood/ sawdust was because LM doesn’t do well on rye berries / birdseed etc
Does it just fruit better from the sawdust ?

Rye berries are outrageously priced! Use whole oats or millet as your grain spawn. I use a 50/50 mixture of the two by weight.

The LM will colonize the rye just fine, but to grow the mushrooms they'll go crazy on 50/50 soy/hwfp.

I am fruiting lions mane on locally sourced hardwood sawdust. I get it from a cabinet maker for a 6 pack of beer.
