Fly Agaric - Louisiana
    #27076088 - 12/06/20 08:16 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Got some fly agaric growing near me if anyone's interested?  I'm gonna pull a couple caps for sport prints and cloning.  Totally interested in building my library for trade.

You may want to research a little more, that's not gonna be an easy species,if at all,to cultivate at home!
Very beautiful and special tho! I always stock up when they come around but between dry weather and wonky temps around here I've only found maybe 10 samples this year!

I need more presence this year for Christmas ,so I hope they start popping up more!

I haven't looked to see how hard to grow but figured I'd make a LC and spore print to index.  There's about 20 of them growing down the street I found without really looking too hard.

I'm just saying, before going through the trouble of making clones/lc it might be worth looking into!

Unless you have a living environment with pine trees under your control, you're likely to no have much success, they're a symbiotic species!

If you're into using them I'd suggest harvesting/dehydrating for future use.  Spore prints never hurt anybody, pretty too!

But you've mentioned clones and lc and I'm just giving a heads up that in the long run, this will just be a waste of time/materials.

I was always told as a kid it was poisonous..guess the old books said so..  I find them everywhere so I took a spore print yesterday.. they are a very beautiful mushroom... still don't think I'd ever eat one...

I've tried to clone amanitas. They are a symbiotic strain. The same reason most wild symbiote like boletes can't be curltured on agar or grains is true for amanita.

It's worth messing around with though. You never know what you might discover.i tried boletus on peroxide agar. It just sat on the agar perfectly preserved for weeks, never leapt from the live tissue to the agar

I just look d it up after thinking to myself how long ago it was that I tried this, and realizing I've been out of the loop for so long that maybe someone figured out a method.

It looks like some people have had some level of success at getting mycelium of amanita muscaria, as well as boletus. I did not see anything very substantial, but there is some progress in that direction
