Substrate Sterelization: How about freezing and then heating it?
    #27075062 - 12/06/20 11:08 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

I've heard that some bacteria dies only if submitted to freezing temperatures; but, most of them dies at heating.

Therefore, in most of cultivation processes there is only a heating step. What would happen if I freeze (during 24 hours) and then heat it (for 1.5 hour)?

My substrate

2/4 - Vermiculite
1/4 - Rice and dextrose
1/4 - Water

Best regards,
SkyJef.

There is a minimum hyperthermophiles survival chance.

But, my concern are most related to the subtrate health. Can it worses mycelial growth, somehow?

Most, if not all bacteria and fungi that would affect a mushroom grow would survive freezing, and cubensis would be harmed by freezing.
