You got some unnecessary equipment but knowing to start with agar is going to be in my opinion the biggest hurdle in the hobby. Its totally simple also intimidating but the biggest boon.
Good luck.

I think agar is the easiest part of the hobby. It's literally 1+2 = 3. So many other aspects are "I'd love to explain it to you but you'll just have to figure it out through trial and error. But that's just me.

Around $2500 - $3000 probably couldve got some stuff cheaper but i got this flow hood from China for $184! Shipping was around $300 so came out to around 500 bucks for a new flow hood shipping included.
I wasnt expecting anything amazing to be honest, but it turned out great. I think its the same or similar model to what Myers Mushrooms sells here:

Somebody asked me to link it so here it is.

Although it seems to have gone up in price a little since i ordered seen here:

Haha, I love this man, and I mean no disrespect at all. It made me laugh though you you have all this awesome gear ready to go, but the most basic of start up needs are the last to arrive. Haha. Seems like my kind of luck.

Haha! I know right! I couldnt find wide mouth mason jars ANYWHERE! locally so i had to order them online, cost a fortune to ship and might be broken lmao just my luck.*fingers crossed*
And i ordered the stirrers and agar,LC kits from Canada and they have been almost 2 months to get here! Things ive ordered in China have got to me long before the stuff from CA! Cmon Canada! π
Anyway,i should be up and running in 1-2 weeks max! Wish me luck

Following this because I am sort of on the same path! Some of us are fortunate enough to have some scratch to throw around, while some of us are poor and need to do a little at a time. There is no shame in anyone's game, but I like to have ALL the necessary (and unnecessary) equipment too! haha Just make sure to log your activity and use science (which I have a hard time following haha).

A lot of glassware and lab equipment can be found dirt cheap from china. Not always best quality but for the price it has been well worth it. Media bottles and plates I grab from Amazon for quicker arrival but yeah stirrer, beaker, buchner funnels, vac pump and more for insanely low prices.

Did the FFU you ordered come with a prefilter on the back?
I very much want to ditch my clunky, overweight flowhood in the near future. I could really free up some room by getting rid of the thing. I even think I cold set up a space in my crawlspace for doing inoculations if I had a FFU. Finally free up the spare bedroom

Hey, if you end up replacing yours, there's a very broke hippie over here that does not mind hand-me-downs one bit π
