Which one is you? * 2
    #27073057 - 12/05/20 07:38 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Take The Elements:

You know, those of the periodic table.

My question to you is:  If you only could choose one atom, which one is YOUR atom?

Which atom are you and why?

the one that came to mind right away is oxygen

essential for life (through respiration and in water), it's prana, vital energy, free-flowing, omnipresent, love

there's lots of good elements though!

I've always been captivated by silver for some reason...

That'd be my choice.

Mine is Sulfur, the yellow element that bleeds red and burns blue.

I burn in oxygen and iron burns in me.

This one took me strange places.
First I had to decide how to identify. There is the cliches traits like I'm nobel or I'm unstable or I'm toxic if you get too close or I explode if water touches me, but that is, while funny, too superficial for the topic. Physical traits are out for the most part unless you smell bad or are very shiny I guess. I would like to think of myself as essential or life giving is some sense but that's applicable to many. So then by gut, or vibe. First vibe for me was lithium but felt that was to close to category 1. I felt neon for a moment before jumping to manganese, mercury, iron and cobalt. At that point to much conscious thought is being put into it and part of my brain wandered off and decided it I were mineral I would be borax.
So in conclusion, I am lithium because (insert preceding paragraph here)

I asked an online friend and thought to myself "you are mostly inert but not quite, you are quite heavy and singular, you and I don't really bind, you're Xenon dude."

The guy thought for a while and said "Xenon."

Sodium

Surprised no one has pointed this out yet...

Atoms and elements are different (but similar) things. Elements are made up of specific atoms.

I'd be mercury because being liquid at room temperature is kinda cool and fairly unique.

Yes. And isotopes are specific types of an element. Intro to chemistry 100.

Maybe because there isn't a single atom that isn't also an element? :cookiemonster:

the one that immediately came to my mind was hydrogen.

it's the basic building block of every other element. it's the element of the stars - as they fuse together, they become every other element. it's the element of light, and the element that forms the basis of life itself. it bonds to a vast array of molocules needed for all sorts of things needed for life and the things we use and see around us, including water.

i dunno if that's pretentious or not, but that was the element that came first in my mind without thinking about any of the reasoning behind it lol.
