So I tried cereal as a substrate

So I decided since Cheerios basically has the same nutritional values I would give it a try, my experiment revealed in the beginning mycelium grew wicked fast then I check the results a week after and Ochratoxin A. Took over. My question is, is their a way to get rid of the Ochratoxin A? Or is this toxin always going to be in cereal no matter if it’s sterilized?

I don't quite understand what "Ochratoxin A took over" means. Do you mean that there is bacterial contamination and those bacteria produce the toxin? Have you narrowed down the genus of the bacteria?

Still, how did you sterilize the Cheerios? I'm surely missing something lol

Lol yeah idk because I used regular Flakes as a substrate and didn’t have this problem but when I used Cheerios it took over the mycelium network and made its own. So I’m wondering if their is a way to remove this from the Cheerios?

Picture of regular flake cereal as a substrate lol
