This tray pinned on 10/24 and it is still be growing!!

Given how slow these grow, and how much my friends like them, I'm really on the hunt for good genetics. I have so many spawn jars, tubs, cakes, and plates going right now.
I wonder if we're trading speed for potency in this case. I'd say yes but it's a wild guess. For me slow fruiting is not a problem at all, even if it takes a month or what, but the slow pinning drives me nuts. lol

It is possible - Fresh said his culture pins and fruits faster but doesn't seem to hit as hard as some have said theirs do (namely my friend who tried mine, and you who tried yours), but that's so anecdotal because Fresh and/or his friends may have a higher tolerance than you or my friends.... who knows. Would love to see some potency tests done on these. I have yet to order and use any of those potency kits that have been making the rounds.... I'm going to change that. I will order a handful of kits today and test my semps.

They're still not weak by any means. My diehard melmak friends only want these now. I gave a couple buddies ~1g doses at a camping trip and they were blasted. But for me, anything under 2g has been a bit underwhelming.
If it is a speed/potency trade-off, at least it met me somewhere in the middle lol. I'll take it.
Also gotta try the late harvest. I've chopped down plenty that weren't producing spores yet

That makes sense.... I waited to harvest mine until they were producing spores. If you have a high tolerance, given the experience of your friends @ 1g I would say yours probably fall in line with the same potency Adas and I have been seeing - especially if you factor in your earlier harvest.

You just motivated me, prepping some more grains at the moment.. 8 jars going.. prepping 10 more now. Got some LC syringes in the fridge, so why wait using it. Fan of the all-in-one bag & FC as the monotub is occupied. Let's all grow Subtropicalis!!! ..regarding the latter.. I hope to find one that glows the brightest.

Interesting. Have you done any high dose Pan trips? If so, how would you compare them?

Consider starting a jar or bag of grain for mycelium tek. You could make tons of active material for your friends with very little effort.

Great point Yoshi - I have never thought to try active mycelium spawn. I wonder how the potency is and how similar/different it is to fruits. I bet I have a friend willing to be a guinea pig lol

The LC "leathers" are wicked. Got one that's over a year now. It's finally starting to fruit. I plucked the leather off of it's twin a few months ago. Where it bruised, it bruised black. The tiny tiny nibble I ate was a lot more than noticeable.
Bang a fully colonized jar and let it sit for a day. It'll be darker blue than most cubes.

do you notice a difference when aging 6 months vs 2, or 12 months vs 6 for that matter?

I've never tried less than 6 month old grains. They are easy to forget about. There are reports online of it getting stronger with age. I recently picked up a black light and have a bag that is a couple months old and one that is 15+ months. It'll be curious to see the difference.

interesting. im just now starting to mess with semps and ive been having difficulty sourcing clean substrate so this concept appeals to me. do you leave GE filters on your jars for long term storage or do you swap in unmodded lids? it would be cool to get a bunch of miraculix kits and test the grains at different months

It would be cool to run potency tests!
Usually I run them in bags with 2 micron patches. I also fold the top over loosely to save space and reduce evaporation. In jars, a tight filter should work too. I stick mine in a file box w/lid so it is dark and out of the way. I usually check them about once a month to make sure everything is ok.
