Finally have pins! Took a while, and some of my failures were because I was hoping I could treat them identically to my cubes. Basically the moment I cased it pins started coming.

So here's my question: I've never cased anything before, and I under-hydrated my casing. I'll improve it next time, but in the meantime can I mist these or should I let it be? I've always been told misting after pinning is a bad idea.

You’re gonna have some nice clusters.

Cubes seems to be the only species that might not like being sprayed.  Everything else I’ve grown loved being soaked, keeping these wet seems to help keep the caps from curling up too I guess.

I just started some spores, only grown these once and they pinned faster than cubes so I’m hoping I’ll get lucky again.

This was my thought too, those red/brown caps.
Ona side note no pics, but my three remaining tubs are still kicking, y’all weren’t lying about the speed! It’s only been like 5-6 days since pins but damn.. two tubs are looking exceptional with one really filling out well, the third, I dunno seems to be either stalling out or something. Regardless hoping to join the crew properly soon.

That was my fear when I saw them. Don't take this from meeee!

Could be though. I am running tamps at the same time, but I am really careful about labeling now. Time will tell, I guess. I have several other subtrop cultures and projects going, so there is hope even if this one is a cross up.

Tamp for sure. See the stones starting to form on the side of the jar. Beautiful and worthy none the less.

:justfuck:
I am sure you are right. I have just reviewed my logs and if these are tamps, I fear that the other projects that I have going in various stages that are supposed to he semps are also tamps.
:baseballfuck:

Back to spores again. Just hope I didn't receive a mislabeled print.

My day will come!

Thanks everyone.

Sorry for double post but looking for an opinion from the masters.

Looking at the myc below, do the top row look like semp/subtrop to you? I wonder about the yellowing that seems to be forming. The bottom is tamp the way I expect it to look and I know that it usually gets tans and more colorful. Does subtrop ever do this? This is not the source of spawn for those pins, but it is from the same original print.

And going back one transfer if it helps.

What is your agar recipe? I think those are all tamp. I'm sorry. Tamps are lovely creature too.

Here's an example of mature semp plates.

They mycelium is usually pretty creamy and thick.

Thanks Nichrome. It is good info even if it isn't what I want to hear. I will just do a quick inventory of old plates and some new germs tonight or tomorrow.

Pouring plates tonight. First time with celtreat with grip rings (for her pleasure!).
