The mega chonksters

The jar

I've picked a crumpled chonk because I was worried it could start to rot, being all cracked and tangled, there was a sour smell in the tub (because I flooded it heavily I suppose), but the boys were sturdy and fresh, turned out to be two of them

It was wheat spawned 1:2 to coir, covered with coir at spawn, I believe I did it too dry for the species, as I usually do for cubes - classic no drip, couple drops if pressed tight.

These are huge Semp! That's how I prep my substrate too.

Photos of straight grain cased. With an odd double caps mushroom

Also I took one of my spore prints, put it to agar, took 4 different T1 to rye and then spawned them, etc. 14 days later, first pins.

What about the members who received prints from me? Quick-pins? or No-quick-pins?

I love the twin, it looks so cute. And, for some reason, it feels as if it's alive, like a little avatar of forest spirit.

I've just noticed that my culture from Rockyfungus in forming a primordium (or 2) on a plate. The plate isn't even super old. I'll transfer from there. I have a jar colonized as well. It grows a bit slower than the Ambrose's culture that I have in fruiting right now, but maybe it could make up for it by faster fruiting times.

OR do you guys recommend letting the plate primordia form into pins and transfer these so I'll end up with a clone quickly?

Hard to say, it might be only forming a few fruits? to me agar logic dictates that hard pinning / poor pinning as a general trait translates to grains/coir - but this is shaky territory where you have to consider a overwhelming number of subjects more than one maybe can realize.

applying cube logic here, do sparse pinning on agar when nutrition is colonized translate to sparse pinning on the first flush, which is what is generally looked for

id like to hear the verdict of da TCs

Can’t comment just yet though casing 4 tubs today, hoping for the best. Those prints were clean as can be as well! And growth has been excellent so far at least to my untrained eye. The coming weeks will tell..

Why think about this? I like the surprise of not knowing what you get. I cleaned some agar, around 12 different sectors. And who knows, maybe total crap, maybe beautiful specimens.. why do you need a clone quickly? Only if I see an exceptional fruit that catches my eye for some reason, maybe I would clone.. apart from that I don't care about cloning, I'd rather try 12 new sectors and throw the dice again hehe. Who knows maybe the next run could produce a crazy pheno, you don't know.

I would be spawning in a couple days time, on grain they colonised a quart jar in about 15 days with a shake. On agar too it wasn’t too slow or anything as some observed.

Some Semp 5 weeks and 2 days after spawning. They started pinning after roughly 13-15 days, can’t remember exactly. I wanted prints off of this run as it’s my first, so waited for them to produce spores.

This was spawned to CV 1:3.5. Thin top layer at spawn, all compressed of course. In a 23L EZ Dial. Misted maybe 2 or 3 times. Fruited at spawn.

:hereyougo:
nice!!!
can you say something about potency when spawned to coir "only" ?
your tub is looking good

Yes, I got kinda blobs, with caps stuck at the base of the stem, and stem looking all distorted and blobby.

Guys, what do you think I shall do?
After a heavy watering came a sour smell, and top surface was covered in some slimy yellow stuff. I noticed subtrops colonizing water before (prior to fruiting). All the puddles were covered in gyphae in a day or so, so water won't move, keeping it's shape. But this time it was different, so I've soaked it with paper towels, now my fruits are bruised, and I'm thinking If I should pick them, or it's fine to let them sit a bit more.

Hmm.. if it does not smell good.. I would just toss it. When I tried pan cyan, I just compost all fruits that didn't look good.. in my opinion I would just toss it all, start over and don't feel bad about it. We grow enough mushrooms to supply us for life...

The fruits themselves are fine and dandy, the smell is coming from the excess water. I guess I'll let them sit a day or two more and collect them, and leave the jar to mature

God damn those are some massive caps.

Coir won’t impact potency, it’s just there to hold water.
