I bet you it will! Keep us posted.

On another note, prints turned out great and are all packaged up:

Exact same boat. Only had trich once in 9 fruit attempts. But full colonization then nothing for months. I did just let the casing of 2 of 4 current tubs dry out then re-moisten. One of those has started to really pop through the casing, so ... maybe.

After Odissey's trip report I am more determined than ever!

Do not give up the semps! I would go as far as to say make as much spawn as you can because you will want nothing else  Maybe I was just lucky with the starting culture but they have been so easy, even completely bacterial jars made for proper flushes.

Did just that. But can't make them fruit. The ones that don't trich out, they just sit. I'll let them sit a bit more. It's a clone culture, so I hoped but was not expecting a quick paced grow. But colonization was quck, both spawn and coco s2b.
If the colonized cakes* keep sitting, I will let the spawn jars sit a couple of months and use it in a myc grain style.

You can try to induce pinning. Give them a dunk, scratch the surface, put the in the fridge overnight... There are a few things you can do.

Now there is one issue I have with the semps. With the others, you take them and you feel like you are good for a while. With the semps I cannot wait to go back there

The other issue I have with the semps, is that it has ruined my impression of the others. I have tried cubes (PE variants as well), tamps, nats and pans. I see no reason to ever take the others, other than doing them just for diversity sake.

Sorry for the long post but I had to share this. These are easy to grow, the fruits are dense, and they offer the best psychedelic experience I have ever had by a long fat margin. I have said before and I reiterate: to me, this is THE magic mushroom :mushroom2::mushroom2::mushroom2:

Odissey, this just brings tears to my eyes. I've been in that timeless dimension where thought has no place on 2,5gr of pan cyans. But it was the hardest most mind boggling and challenging trip by far, I'll never do that again... however, I've never got that sense of bliss on any higher dose.. so your previous experience made me curious, and this one galvanised my interest in this mushroom. CaptainFuture also coined that this is "THE" magic mushroom. Thank you man

Spawned a few jars today and was surprised by the smell, similar to Oyster spawn. Myc began to bruise, so that eased the nerves

I have six Jars colonized or almost colonized. Is it still the general consensus to let the Jars sit for a couple of weeks before spawning?

Are you guys misting them more often or reducing FAE? I put them in the same cube fruiting environment and nothing happened. Are you doing anything different?

Mine sat for two months in my fruiting tent, doing nothing. I pulled them out and let them sit wide open on the shelf with no lid for ~24 hours until the casing layer was dry, then I misted it back to normal wetness, put it back in the tent and had pins within a week.

I grow mine in a shoebox dub that has small holes stuffed with Polyfil and tape around the seam. The only time I touch them is to harvest, I usually add some water at the same time. Genetics do seem to make a difference but Hindsight's observations are pretty exciting too.

However you get there, they are beautiful to see in person!

I agree on the genetics comment. I have no other way to explain how some can run them in a tub, not touch them, and get fruits, while others HAVE to let the casing dry or do something else to shock them into pinning. I got some new genetics in from VL a month or two ago and have a bunch of cultures from that growing on cakes now. Ill be sure and post back on whether or not these genetics fruit differently than the others I have been working with.

Definitely seems to be genetics.

I only grew these once, but they started pinning a day or two after the tub colonized before I even cased.

So it sounds like they prefer dryer moments in their life cycle?

I'm thinking that this recent discussion on genetics and specific cultures of this species is also the best explanation for the earlier discussion about how certain cultures appear to immediately trich out before pinning.

I'm thinking that those who already have a fruiting culture of this species are good and those of us who have experienced consistent failures (like myself) are better off going back to spore and isolating a different culture.

I'm still interested in why or how the species was named 'semperviva' if it's in fact so prone to contamination and so sensitive on a culture-to-culture basis.  It seems like even cubes are more contan-resistant than semps across the board, with the exception being proven semp cultures that have demonstrated fruiting ability.  I'm sure those cultures are hardy and contam-resistant, but everything else is probably no more contam-resistant than cubensis.

From the sounds of it, these can be challenging but I look forward to learning enough to accomplish this strain one day. Especially based on odissey's trip report.  Sounds like a very interesting adventure.

Interesting, I'm not taking any chances here.. as they grow slow. Currently have 6 different sectors going from one print and 6 different from another.
