I have had little empirical testing of potency. I mainly love figuring all these neato species out.

I'm convinced that any substrate will work. They've done great on straight coir, CV, manure and I've got a flat pot outside that's trying to do things. It's just regular potting soil with some charred wood chips on the top of it.

Thanks Doc. I'm doing a blend of CV with some cactus soil mixed in. Will see what happens this go-around.

I have a Subtrop shoebox that is knotting 6 days after spawning. Is it still worth casing it? Or it's too late?
First time this is happening to me, so I'm afraid if I case it, I'll "damage" the flush.

Melliferous, Nichrome, Adas & Doctor Mario: thanks a lot for your input guys!
I know it seems real fast, I've never had this happening before - so now I'm even doubting it. Also I called it "Fast 1" because this mycelium was the first one to germinate when I put spores to agar.
Here are some photos at day 7. Am mistaking these for knots?

Going to case it with pasteurized cactus soil now.

Update on my buried 4th flush pint sized cakes.
The fruits are so short, by this point with the caps at this size and shape they'd be twice as tall indoors. Not sure if it's the FAE or the low temps. It's been a bit erratic, had some really hot days but have also had nights drop below 10°C.
Also a better view of the fucked up surface of the bucket after I tried to adjust the bag cause I'm a dumbass.

That’s how mine went too. I was expecting it to be like 4 weeks based on what I’d seen earlier in this thread, then the first time I checked it like 10 days in there was a couple primordia already
I cased mine when it was probably a few days farther in then yours and it colonized the whole casing still.

If it colonizes the casing, does it even make sense to case it? Because from all my experience, colonized casing = useless casing.

I think with semps that casing isn’t super important honestly. I think fresh prints didn’t use a casing and I didn’t either and it gave us a good flush. I can’t speak to his experience, but my shit got the green after the first flush so I can’t say whether or not that’s the way to go.

How long did you let the spawn sit before using it?
