Same as my cubes, between 72-80 F

Ps subtroTHICCalis pic tax. Other than getting bent following light, it seems the extra thick fruit likes these conditions so I'll definitely be cloning it once they all start to sporulate

My cube room is 19-20C stat.
I've only ran mine in a JCM and the water heater has been set to 76Β°F.

These are without a casing or a pan chamber. Iβm running them in a small tray inside of a shoebox just like my cube/nat clone hunting trays. Idk if thatβs why theyβre lighter in color with the smaller gills or if itβs the lack of light thatβs causing the color change. Iβm gonna let these ride for awhile but Iβm just curious what you guys think.

I think they look great and could use a few more days at least. It's good to let them mature all the way. Likely those caps will flip up on themselves. In a chamber they'd be less squirrely but those are looking great.
You might notice some peach/pink hues in the stems as they get a bit more mature.

Iβm definitely letting em ride until I see the gills darken up, idk about size, I just want to get some prints or swabs. Definitely gonna take some clones from a cluster.
Thanks for the advice, always appreciate it

Yeah, those still need to mature a lot. The gills will widen as they mature as well.
Looks freaking awesome though

Hello I posted these in the exotics thread. I had a mislabeling incident and thought I was growing pans but grew something else. Some were leaning towards subtropicalis, so was I after some time and people posting their own pics. I got some fairly nice prints too.

I am having some trouble getting my sempervivas to work..
So what has happened to me already twice is the following:
-Grain colonizes nicely(rye)
-I inoculate a bag of straw pellets (sometimes with a 20% of manure). I use one 720ml jar of rye spawn for a bag which contains around 180 gr of straw pellets hydrated to a 61%.
-The bag moves quite fast. I massage it at around 30% to redistribrute mycelium.
-The bag recovers quickly and starts colonizing again very fast.
-The bag is almost fully colonized except one small section.
-I massage the bag to redistribute the mycelium to see if this helps.
From this point on, the colonization stalls and nothing really happens anymore.
I have one bag still running where I can see a tiny bit of mycelium but the other bag went bacterial.
My spawn smelled very nicely and it was fully white. The spawn never stalled after shaking so I guess it was clean.
I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice or if you have any hints why this might be happening.

If the spawn is clean and contam isn't present until after spawning then I'd question the substrate. Skip the straw and manure and spawn to a coir sub and run them exactly like you would cubes.

Third flushes, nice sized and shaped caps. Should get some good prints

I will try that. Funnily enough, I do cubes on straw pellets (exactly as described above) and I rarely get contamination.
The hydrated straw pellets go to the pc for 1-1.30 hrs.. I guess the culture that I am using is not fast enough to outpace bacteria.

Are you somewhere that coir is hard to source?

Nah, not really. I could get it easily.
It was one of those beginners mistakes that I did a couple of years ago and now I am trying to finish the straw. Plus I have to say that I like that the straw pellets can be sourced locally.
I guess I will have to save the straw for the cubes... I thought the semperviva was more resistent to contamination than cubes

I almost bought a bunch of straw pellets when coir got hard to find. Luckily, it git easier to source right as I was getting low.

Nice work ya'll. Finally fruited and then dropped it. Lost lots of pins and hope I can print.

If I can't get prints. I transferred my last plate of myc, transfer 12. I'd like to start over though. Cloning these doesn't look fun.

First semperviva pins, just not where I want em

I definitely should have used a casing layer. Would applying one now make them abort?

I'd only apply to areas with no fruits. And no, I seriously doubt it would abort them even if the casing touched them directly. This is not Zapotecorum which aborts solely due to having a bad day
