This has got to be one of the worst species to get trich early on.
Cubes are quick enough you can get a flush off most of the time but semperviva grow so slowly.
Iโm curious how that works out.

Do these benefit from a JCM-style FC at all?

You will definitely get nicer caps, I think Doctor Mario grew them that way.

Beautiful!!!
hazyhorse: I'm a noob with this species. But my plates which looked like yours showed up contam once spawned and never produced a fruit. Just my 2 cents so you have a least one opinion. But I'd wait for the experienced guys to chime in. Good luck mate!

thanks melgo!! iโll be bummed if these end up contaminated once they go to grain, the spore plate took foreeeeeever to germ, like probably a month or so. i saved it so i could go back & grab some new transfers if need be. i just figured it couldnโt be contams on the spore plate since it took so long to germinate & was sterile otherwise. the spore print was incredibly light so idk if going back to spores would be super viable

nosf3r4tu's salt advice works well, fruits continue to grow and I haven't seen any trich pop up again yet. The blue band is due to the salty water rolling in the tub, it's not trich green:

Trichoderma keeps progressing underneath:

These mushrooms are now 15 days old, caps start opening:

I took 2 clones on agar 2 days ago. It wasn't easy as these fruits are small, but at least one is recovering on agar.

Thanks to the salt, my Pasty EZD of Subtrop went on for a few more days. Exactly like nosf3r4tu said: enough to get a harvest. 5 for you Mate!
I had to harvest it tonight, it looked like a warzone:

My 19 days old fruits look like noodles, nothing as beautiful as Dr Mario or Angam, but I'm still very happy with this first grow:

I'm cloning this cluster tomorrow morning:

121 grams total went into the dehydrator, as I won't have time to trip before a month or so:

I feel excited and at the same time anxious to try this species for the first time.
And posting this, there's also a feeling of accomplishment, managing to get from spore swab to fruits in about 3 months - actually without struggling too much (I still have sooo much to learn & improve).
It's weird, and nice - and it's all thanks to Shroomery and its amazing community
PS: I've noticed that they don't bruise. Is that normal?

Noice brother! 121g is not bad at all for one flush, and Trich infested at that. FAE would make the caps open nicely, but I'm sure you're aware.

They tend to continue accumulating alkaloids as they mature (which can take about two weeks after their caps open) - at that point they bruise strongly near the cap and less so towards the base.

The semperviva mycelium, which I transferred from the agar, quickly enveloped the jar. this worried me. I prepared a shoebox, I will wait for the result

Mine was quick on agar, quick in the jar, quick to colonize the sub... Now it's slow as can be after casing.

Wow it really colonized the casing thoroughly. That colonization is what hindered your pinsets. I would suggest starting a new culture or running a pure peat casing.

Just cased 2 pan type trays, shoebox, and a bag. What thickness you guys been casing at? I went between pans and cubes. Thick but not PE thick.
