Side-by-side day 28, mine on the left. 17 & 16 days since cased. Might be hard to see in the pic but the melgo box is full of pins, they're just maturing a bit slower. I bet they'll be stronger in the end thanks to the extra time.

Putting Xico to grain today! Took a few xfers to plates I plan to forget about for a while, see if I can snag any easy plins.
Those are semperviva??

They sure are semps. Here's one with no flash. I've been taking them with the light off because I can't figure out how to make those lines go away, it bugs me. Especially looking at albino fruits

Yeah I spent a long time looking at that first picture. The primordia and some pins had the semp shape but then as they mature they start looking like cubes.
The flash definitely caused it

If all goes well, we'll have another Subtrop to confuse us.
Just received Subtropicalis Valdivia Chile along with a Zapotecorum from the same region. They are field prints on paper so keeping fingers crossed.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited. Wasn't expecting the Subtrops. Plus there's some stuff I'm still sorting out lol. Seeds too! The prints are nice and there's enough to work with, but they are on paper and several months old.. looks like back in April and May of this year, so we'll see. I was able to work with most of Cactu's field prints over a few years and if these aren't as bad it should be somewhat easy lol.
I'll also be putting Xico to agar this weekend. Hindsight's subtrops are cooking and ready for T1 also. AND I found a print from my original grows lol. Probably long dead but since I'll be in front of the hood it's worth a plate or two.
Yep. Shit's goin' on.

Took another photo of the incubated tub ~26 hrs later. I give it a mist in the morning, then place the lamp on the lid and let it be like that for most of the day but not for a fixed time, somewhere from 6 to 8 hrs. At night I switch the lamp off and give it a generous mist. The substrate is very much saturated and the water is half way up on the sides. As I said I don't know if that is actually speeding up growth, really not experienced enough with the species to be able to tell.
Will try and get a photo every day.
Started incubating 24 days after spawn, 2nd photo 27 days, 3rd 28 days

Currently work with wild subtropicalis

Cultures are already isolated on agar. Will see what it is 4-6 weeks.

Starting to get stoked.
Day 17 for this shoebox and even more pins. None of the 3 shoeboxes from the first spore plate have pinned yet.
