I took some clones of these and the stipes felt woody like semps, the spores have taken 2-ish weeks to start showing on the caps which also feels very semp-like.
I figure they're semps, just curious if anyone has seen a variation like this? Along with the clone tissue I also took some swabs to agar so we'll see what the next generation produces.
And a pretty standard flush to go along with it (from same LC as tub above):

That looks similar to what I'm getting with panaeolus sometimes. I think it could be an infection of some sort but am not sure.

That's what all my subtropicalis fruits look like.

Yeah definitely semp, mine had a normal flush and then those gnarly guys would start showing up after. Whatβs weird is that they look way more mature than the others, did they all pin at once or did the fat ones start earlier??

Yeah, you told me that when I first asked about mine. Even stranger than that I have been harvesting these weirdos for about a month and a half when some normal looking ones started to show up.

Thanks Baba. Ill see what the clones and ms produce, might help narrow down.

Thanks, that flush took 6 weeks, the other shoeboxes spawned at the same time finished up in 5. All spawned with a ratio ~ 1:3.

The fat ones definitely pinned first, I figured the flush was going to be a bust for the most part until the late bloomers (normal pheno) showed up.
Thanks folks, my semps have all been pretty consistent until this flush so it was a curiosity, appreciate the responses.

Hi. I had a similar experience when fruits grew in understated boxes. Perhaps the peculiarities of growth in cramped conditions. Although I also thought it was an infection.

They are generally strange, these live in a monotube,in the dark and without open air holes, they have enough internal exchange.Although a little comes through the upper slots.

I'd be happy with that for a first run and it looks like this is exactly what I am getting to on my first run.

Not sure if I find the time to take and clean up a clone right now but I try putting a transfer to BRF puck and hope for a plate pin.

What is generally seen as the next step here once I am ready to harvest? Is it still good practice to take clones and prints/swabs? Or is a clone okay and no need to print ?

These are kinda like tamps, you reeeally gotta work for prints most of the time
I would print them if theyβre printable. Also i only took spores from one tub so could be random, but they died off very quickly so it might be good to keep fresh ones coming whenever possible.

true. still, given that he doesnt have too much margin here, cloning should be paramount - and doesnt stop him from trying for prints.

This is only one of many tubs so I'm not too concerned, more just getting an idea what is preferred.

Cased first 3 Shoeboxes today. Did I go too thick or too thin on casing?
Glad I left the casing on the dry side for pasteurization, because it was difficult to spread thin as it was.
Also for those running in Shoeboxes. Do you leave lids latched until you see pins?
