how long do Subtrops usually take to germinate? It's been 4 days and both Bisporus and Natalensis are growing nicely, but nothing with Subtrops. Do they just naturally take longer?
Mine just germinated today
I put the swab on MAE - 7 days ago.

This was spawned to tray in Coir and Verm @ a 1:2 (spawn:sub) ratio. I went a little heavier on the verm than what I normally use for cubes and stuck the tray in a JCM Pan Chamber. I had originally planned on casing the tray with peat so I left a little space in the tray. The walls of the tray built up a lot of condensation that kept pooling up all around the edges but it ended up being a good thing because the fruit popped up near the walls before the center. Seems like these really liked the excess water. I never saw any sign of primordia and the pins actually broke through the top layer instead of knotting up and growing like cubes. Saw pins 13 days after spawning.

Oh wow thatโs sick.
Definitely a keeper especially pinning that easy and that quick. Iโd be having a clone overload
Spawning some tomorrow, hopefully theyโre half as good as that tray.

I definitely plan on snagging a few clones. Haven't tried to take tissue from something so thin. Hopefully I don't have bacterial issues.

Use a cup of h2o2 or sterile water to rinse the fruit off first before taking a biopsy

Even if you do get bacteria you can wait it out and the myc will grow past it. I think Iโve only had one clean pan clone.
Well here goes.

Only tried these once a long time ago and the tub triched out. This one looks good though.

Question about the best way to proceed here:
I have received 2 Subtrop swabs from alaskappalachian ( mate!). Put one of the swabs to agar and spores germinated in 7 days on MAE.
I also dipped the swab in sterilized water, and sucked up the spores laden water to make a spore syringe for long term storage.
And also mashed & shook for 30 minutes the rest of the swab tip into another sterilized water solution, to make another spore syringe - this one containing spores and cotton pieces.
I really wanted to have a somewhat long term-ish storage solution for these Subtrop spores as I know swabs can dry up pretty fast.
I followed Josex' Poke: No Mercy for Bacteria. to inoculate BRF pucks with these syringes. (After reading such good things about them, I really really wanted to try Subtrops, so yeah I kinda threw the kitchen sink at it to make sure spores would germinate ).
To my surprise, spores from the BRF pucks germinated in 4 or 5 days instead of the 7 days for the fastest agar dish! The other agar dishes took 8 days to germinate.
Since I'm a noob and it is the first time I am working with BRF pucks, my question is: Should I focus on working with the mycelium which germinated on my fastest BRF puck? Or my fastest MAE dish?

It doesnโt matter. Whichever is fastest will be the best way to go. If you were going to use brf or brown rice as grain then the brf would be the way to go since itโs already got a head start on digesting brown rice, but since Iโm assuming youโre gonna be using rye, wheat or whatever else then it doesnโt matter. Whichever growth is healthiest and fastest, agar or brf pucks

Hi everyone, here is my tub:

So how long after the caps flatten does it take to sporulate? Is there anything I can do to promote it?

Since they accumulate more time in total before sporulation, I'd expect most prints to be more dirty than "normal"
Was the print from me?
