228 thats to funny my last bag was 230, almost the exact same yeild! Dried to about 30grams, is that what you would expect for yeild typically or should I be aiming a little higher?

I’ve averaged about 5-8% dry weight. 30 grams dry from 230 is 13%.

Sorry I meant yeild from a quart of spawn, I asked because my pint of spawn gave me an oz dry. Just wasnt sure if 2oz from a quart jar was a realistic expectation or not.

I’ve never weighed them wet but mine have all been in the mid 20s dry from a quart in a shoebox.
I think these will really take off in popularity here soon like natal is right now.

I know I opted for these over natalensis. Didn't really want something that close to cubes

I think maybe my bag needs more room to stretch its legs...

That’s what I’m thinking, cuz your bag was absolutely filled to the brim. Little more surface area would probably go a long way for ya. Fantastic yield already though.

I've got 2 quart jars of great looking subtrop grain spawn ready to go to bulk.
My dilemma is that I am going away for two and a half weeks from mid-December to the end of the year.
So if I spawn now they'll have 6 weeks of colonising/growing before I go away.
Is it worth spawning them now? Would the jars keep in the fridge for 10 weeks until my return?
It seems a shame to waste these two nice and clean jars.
