Never had a culture do well without casing. I squeeze the fuck out of my casing as well before applying it.

Mines been opposite
To be fair I’ve only run these twice. First one had primordia like 10 days in when I went to case it and the second one I just didn’t case at all. The cased one did have a better pinset but not by enough that I’d say it was that over genetics.
I’m finally getting ready to start some spores from the slower line so we’ll see what happens.

don't worry too much. in the beginning stages they tend to look like mold, somewhat whispy. different than cubensis
edit: my sub and casing are slightly under field capacity, but i give them a thorough misting after casing before closing the box... they seem to like it.

Pretty much the standard question with all first time exotics.

Here are my first two semp jars. Pretty thick growth but I had a BRF/Verm layer on top which I have let colonize before shaking so there is a bit of flour in there too. It's a thing I do since LC does take ages to take otherwise.

Did something similar with gypsum and pans and scared myself.
Sorry, not subtrop related. So here are cross post pix of subtrop pins.

Hey hey hey I'm happppy after all this time. Anyone remembers my wasted buckets, which I waited for pins for at least 5 months and nothing was happening? I just opened one of the only two buckets that I didn't dump few months back. One was contammed in a corner by some white mold. And one just surprised me with a few sad baby mushrooms. These were in almost total darkness, sand-cased and disappointedly abondened. Stems are bent by the bucket lid, and there's like a dozen very tiny primordia/pins visible.

Time to pour dishes and clone the fuck outa these fuckers.
EDIT: Found my post on the night I spawned them, It's been around 5 months from spawning. And around 230 days since spore germination. Lol

Well the transfers are going faster than the spore plates, so my old agar could have been a factor. They are only slightly slower than the Machine Elf now. Looking clean so far. Need to take some transfers from the second spore plate soon.
Just for Shits and Giggles I sent the original spore plate to grain after taking these transfers and letting it grow out a few more days. will see what happens while these grow out.

Very cool!
I first read about casing straight grains from Violet in her truffle tek. And then it is The Chosen One who mentioned that you could do so for all exotics. So props to them
cambocyan, how long did they take to pin this way?
