That was my first assumption and it makes perfect sense. I took the mp tape off the hole closest to them a few days ago as a bit of an experiment and put it back on a day later.
Sir Psycho, how do you gauge when to pick your fruits? Most of these blue guys are a little over 2 weeks since they popped up.
I'm after prints so I let them go until the gills are straight up black
Oh wow ok. Out of curiosity, how long does that take roughly? A month? Are the fruits still solid at that point or are they starting to turn softer?

Yes, my pot with the big caps is coming up on a month since pins and that's roughly been my experience with bottle tek as well

Fastest I had these ready to consume (so from blobs to dropping spores) was 21 days. Slowest I had these ready to consume (so from blobs to dying fruits spores) was 41 days.

Yeah I’ve run the fast pinning ones and they take about three weeks from pins to harvest.
I was just thinking that if the mycelium is anywhere close to as potent as the mushrooms then growing a big thick jar of lc and dumping it into a strainer then drying out the blob would let you produce doses faster than any other mushroom.

So what’s the indicator that they are ready? Spore drop? I’m not sure if I can tell if spores are dropping or not? They certainly ain’t spunking them out like cubes.

That’s a good thought. You could pretty much industrialize the process at that point. Would be great for making edibles anyway.

Seems his results put the “slow” line at about the same potency as my results with the “fast” line. Which is also right in line with the sample from Jacob which I believe is a fresh line from Xico if I’m not mistaken, don’t quote me though. Just gotta get information on Ambrose’s line, anyone know the history of that one?

Maybe it is the act of consolidation that explains the difference in strength? If there even is a difference? I wonder if we took a "fast" line and let it sit a few months then tried to fruit if we'd notice a difference? It seems someone tried mycelium tek w/"fast" genetics and was underwhelmed after 3 months.
It is fun to slowly unravel this mystery, good job everyone!

That being said... At what stage are the fruits ready to drop spores?
I am used to seeing some dark purple here and there before printing but the last time I tried to swab them there was nothing there. Do you have to wait until they get mature enough to start curling in on themselves?

Ok cool. I got a couple honkers that I would like to share with the community. They haven't started turning black or curling.
Semps seem to take almost twice as long as cubes. If not longer.

Mine have taken a full month from pin to maturity on average
