Yeah there was communication going on, but I don't know how to 'word' it. Cev's were primarily dark with 'some' color.. like the twilight zone, but I don't recall the color.. it was just an ocean no distinct worlds, swirling with loads of vortexes / eddy's everywhere... Vortexes inside vortexes.. endless.. and just traveling in those vortexes.. you know that wormhole scene from interstellar.. that grimness to it.. but way faster and I don't know man.. I just don't remember

I'm getting really excited to get these strong genetics going to try them @0t0lerence. Too bad I have to be patient! Thanks for sharing.

They shot towards the (side mounted) light, then after about 1.5 weeks went straight up.

The straight ones in back furthest from the light are maturing slower. Interesting!

Coming back from a work trip and seeing 0t0lerance's crazy dosage report... Holy Shit! I'm defo not ready for that

I have 3 rye jars of the slow genetics that I have straight cased with cactus soil, 9 days ago.
I wanted to see if it would result in faster pinning time. I already see knotting on the casing - fingers' crossed.

Have had an experience just like that report with cubes. Endless rebrith and dying. Being torn apart for infinity. Never even been close to that power with exotics.

Had a few pints ready to go but emergency surgery had me dump it all in a patch outside. Hopefully some outdoor fruits this year.

Hey folks.
What else should I do to force my subs to start pinning?
It's been around 40 days since I spawned to sub, all colonized fully, cased, casing all colonized. Everything smells shroomy and healthy. Still no pin. I'm out of patience.
The casing has a much whispier myc than the substrate had before casing applied.
Daily misting, last 7 days. No pin whatsoever. WTF. WTF. WTFFFFFF

Nope, it was under field capacity.
Colonization on grains, as well as the sub, took as long as expected for the slow lineage.
But waiting for the pins is killing me.
As a side note, sub was supplemented toward nutrient richness, maybe that's the reason. But still should have seen pins by far

Give it 2-3 more months. That will do the trick as long as all is clean.

What kind of casing? I've done a pseudo casing with coir and it did NOT work. I imagine a verm/coir casing would produce similar results. That said I see a lot of success here with it, but it just hasn't worked for me personally. Cactus soil casing is where I've had great success.

Additionally, I still need to duplicate the results more before I'm confident about this, but my most successful and fastest pinsets have come from trays that were covered during the consolidation phase. I covered with plastic wrap essentially blocking off all FAE and the mycelium consolidated much faster. Once consolidated I uncovered and put my layer of under-hydrated cactus soil and it seems to trigger pinning pretty quickly.

I've tried leaving them uncased or pseudo-cased with coir and they just sit there forever.

Take this with a grain of salt because I'm working with the faster lineage. I'm putting the slow strain on agar this weekend to see how that goes!

This is somewhat consistent with what chris77 posted a little ways back too...

I thought I read a few pages back about letting the surface dry out for a few days then misting to induce pinning. Or is this old thought and I missed that.

Found it.

Finally, after nearly two months, my semps are pinning. I can't recall how many attempts at this I've made but I'm just happy to finally see them.  A few pages back, someone suggested letting the casing dry out a bit then re-hydrating it. I tried that since it had been so long and within 6 days pins started showing. Part of it too could be that during the rehydration, my tent was putting out just a bit too much fog and it flooded the surface while I was out of town for 4 days - not bad but like 1-2mm of water pooling. I could see pins under the water. I poured the water off, patched the casing, and a pretty dense looking pinset is now coming in.

Hey Friendly Semperviva community!

So, I have one fully colonized quart jar of millet with the slow lineage.  It is a T2 plate tiger dropped into the jar 11 days ago, finished colonizing today.  I colonized it in a wide-mouth quart thinking I would do a jar grow, but I am re-thinking.

If you had a nice looking colonized quart jar, what would you do?  I have generally done shoe boxes with my cubes and bags for stones.  Never done semps before and am really looking forward to the fruits.

Anything is fair game, what would you like to see done? Got an experiment you haven’t been able to try yet?

Is it a good idea to let it sit in the jar for a while before spawning to maybe get the pins popping without it being in the shoe box for two months?  Think I saw that thrown around here a while back.

Thanks,
Phlanx

Hey Yoshi,

Haha, yeah I considered that.  I already have some other plates moving along, so I figured I would go for a grow.

Thanks,

Thanks all, yeah it was a coir/verm mix used as the casing.
I'll divide my buckets into 3 groups.
one I'll expose to low temps for a few days, one under sunlight while covered in clear wrap, and the last I'll re-case.
I'll also electrify some of them to see if it'll do anything to trigger them into pinning.
Just trying.

this got me thinking. mine had plenty of sunlight (window covered with thick white paper) , no artificial light at all.
i dont know, maybe its irrelevant.

for the jars, i had one shoebox from a very well consolidated ultra thick jar, the other was just consolidated nicely. results (harvest weight) same same.
pinning too ..

edit: colonized surface was always covered in beads of moisture.

cheers

None of that worked for me. Usually slower type doesn't knot for me in less than two months on coir. Peat casing gave me knotting in about month's time. Drying, dunking, putting outside in cold weather - no effect whatsoever ime.

With my slow culture my old technique was to beat the shit out of it! Break the fucking sub up because it was being stubborn.

They are derrumbe after all?

I don't condone beating them up anymore as patience will always win
