OK, sounds great. Thanks for the input.

Very excited about these guys,

Based on a limited comparison between BRF, cornmeal, and LME agar (all made with yeast and tea) this species seems to really do well on cornmeal in terms of growth speed; anecdotal of course so could be coincidental.

Spawned two shoeboxes tonight.
Lime, cornspawn, coir and vermiculite. Spawn did not look good, yellow veins but smelled okay, had that strong subtropica smell totally different from cubes, I'm almost saying amoniac-like.

No, open air environment. That spot gets half day sun. It has been raining regularly. Put the grain in that pot about two weeks ago maybe less.

Interesting, maybe I'll try fruiting my tubs outdoors. The weather right now is 85 - 90 F and 80-100% humidity.

Not much to see but I just made up 4 master subtropicalis jars bound for g2g...
...damn I just realized I labeled them 7/30 instead of 7/31. New tek for cutting down jar colonization times upcoming.

Mine pinned outside after about a week post spawn. The spawn was several months old. They are doing their typical snail pace race right now.

Haven’t had a chance to properly look through the thread.

How do these compare potency wise to cubes and pan cyans?

Also which is preferred sub? Thanks

That is awesome.  Don't recall seeing subtropicalis grown outdoors.  The phenotype resembles photos of wild specimens.  When you spawn those pots, is it grain layered/sandwiched under the soil, or are you mixing it in with the soil?

Just about exactly one week of colonization. The other two master jars have been shaken as these will be in a few more days.

Yes, these are "Ball" brand mason jars. I always PC my grain for 2 hours at around 16 PSI, which is the "hardest" I've done these jars.

And that green spot is indeed an agar wedge; it's more visible in the picture I posted before that one. I really enjoy the way subtropicalis mycelium looks on oats compared to cubensis. So dense, so...tropical.

I just spawned round two. I did 2 shoeboxes with straight coir and completely
ignored it for 2 months. Found some good clone candidates but only pulled 6g dry.

Looks like shoeboxes are starting to pin! Subtropica 2021.

Man that pin is confusing me it looks so cubeish! But there's no way this is mislabeled.
