Definitely an improvement over the ms runs at least as far as density, will keep this clone around a while I think.

That is EPIC. Not sure I have seen such a large tub of them, and especially that dense.

I don't think they were ever hard to grow, just too slow for most people's patience. Waiting 4 months for them to start pinning is hard for most people used to Cube timelines.
Heck, your genetics didn't even mind some Spruce sawdust in the substrate. Only small % tho. 2-5% or so I'd say.

sure thing! but that's also part of the fun in it .. all the dickswinging bragging about massive flushes of Cubensis and all is kind of getting old .. i am doing this as a hobby and i try to be excellent in what i do. i dont give a shit about quantity.. i care only about quality. so a thread like this is great. happy to be here.. hope my semperviva jars turn out well. myc was kind of whispy.. but clean

Yeah I think I’m with adas as well, patience seems to be something in short supply now a days with many folks, in and out of the scope of mushrooms. Though I’d reason also clean spawn could play a role as well, I suspect some are spawning slightly questionable spawn at times, and with extended fruiting times it shows more. I at least notice I can get away with slightly bacterial or marginally “dirty” spawn with cubes rather easily not so much outside of cubes though.. but patience above all else reigns supreme in my book, all good things come to those who wait I think is the phrase..

Harvest time. I debated waiting a couple of days to post this pic so the memory of kirkeng's tub was out of everyone's mind......

This thread has been a bit quiet lately, we all needed the flurry of amazing fruits to satiate the impending hunger, I say bring it all to the front!

The Tao said: A.k.a posted about doing multiple prints for Semperviva and I’ve always done double prints and worked with the second print. I started printing by putting a drop of water on the caps and letting them sit under cover for 24 hours and got decent results. I added a piece of damp cotton swab on top of the caps and left them for 48 hours and got darker prints and can transfer the same cap to fresh foil and get more dark prints. I’m currently doing a 6th print from one cap, still nice and dark and I don’t have to remember to add water to the cap. Prints have been clean too.
Very cool! I'll defo try this method

Can you please hold it up to a light so the light is shining behind it and we can see the mycelium patterns better? Semp mycelium can turn some shades of tan as it ages, but that can also be bacterial. The fluffy pattern that I see in that pic also suggests there might be some mold there, but it could also just be a lot of different cultures climbing all over one another. You could start by taking a transfer from a clean looking edge to a new plate and seeing how it grows out.

Holy moly, some amazing results on here. I hope I can get anywhere near with my first attempt.
I had a fairly dirty spore germ plate and I wasn’t satisfied with the first T1. Has a couple little patches near the centre. I’m still pretty new at agar. What do you guys think? Use or toss?
The more recent T1 I did looks cleaner and more vigorous. Taken from 3 different spots from the dirty master plate. Please excuse the condensation.

Can't really see well enough through the condensation to tell. But on that first plate, the 10:00 area looks good to my eyes - I see mycelium fingers radiating outward in a well-defined spoke pattern. Don't see any fuziness that is mold, and as far as I can tell through the condensation, the plate looks fairly even and clean.

Thanks man. It’s the two little weak spots above the transfer that sketches me out on this plate. Can’t see any contam but I was worried it could be reacting to some. But then it grew out fairly even like you say.

the plate had hella condensation & i was running out the door for work so i didn’t get a chance to take another pic, i’ll try when i get home. that plate is from september of last year & has been moving really slow so i’m hoping it’s mostly myc. i took transfers from a few spots on the plate so i’ll also post back once those grow out a bit

Pulled 275g from one tub and 282 from the other. One myco quart each.

Then cloned the largest from these clusters.

And they are in the dehydrator now.

Except for the caps on their second round of prints.

Planning a give away in the marketplace for my 1000th post if I can shut up long enough to prepare everything before going over 1000. Will do it in any case. International and non machinable stamps should arrive today or tomorrow. Will also have fresh tamps and older PE swabs in that give away. The damn SN-APEs are too damn slow for this give away. So they will have to be in my second shot on the marketplace.
