Ima report back
also spiders guy, they are coming in from the cold now, put em in your grow room
bring luck + kill flies
I just use regular yellow flying insect stick cards that I get from Amazon. They aren't meant specifically for mushroom phorid flies - just generic flying insect traps. The cards are pretty big - about half the size of a sheet of paper, are double sided so you can use one side then flip over and use the other or hang them exposing both sides, and you get a lot of them for cheap.
I also have a UV light trap outside the tent. It catches some too but not nearly as many as the yellow trap. I'm going to position the UV light trap outside the tent but right behind the yellow sticky trap in hopes that the UV light will draw more flies onto the yellow sticky trap in the tent.

Thanks! But it took me a year to get there, and I couldn't have done it without Shroomery's help, and especially Hindsight last priceless advises.

Hah, that's good! If you already have casing on there, I say to patch. But you don't even need to case Semps. I have found that some cultures prefer casing or even need casing to pin, while others pin happily without it. I case nearly everything I grow except run-of-the-mill cubes out of habit and because it can never hurt - only help, both from a pin initiation standpoint and a contamination standpoint (casing with a high pH will help defend against trich).

I also have sparse fruits from your culture, however I think it's my lack of skill. And maybe the charcoal casing also didn't help. At first only 1 fruit showed up, now I see 3 more pins or so. But nothing much. However, your culture also gave me a plate pin which I've cloned so there's hope.
I can't keep track who I sent it out too! Awesome I doubt it's your skill! I think the culture just isn't the same as what everyone else is running. I've done clones and F2s at this point and still not producing anything worthy. I'm going to keep working it and maybe just grab a real print. I went super wet this time and beat the shit out of the block Lessons were learned and I'm going to leave 'em alone forever to get prints.

Here's my latest semp tray:

Yeah, I almost felt like an intruder 'disturber of peace'.. quickly closed the lid again, put away the cloves and 50:50.. a well, will patch directly next time. That looks like a healthy tray! I'll add a lighter next time as some sort of reference to size, for some reason this looks like a 50l tub to me, but judging from the fruit size (unless these are monsters) I think it's smaller.
Yes yes, I made a 45l mono the other day (my first 'real' mono).. felt really good not having to fiddle with bags for a change
lasagna layered bulk/spawn and finished with a layer of coir. I'll case once it's 100%... after I was done I found out I forgot a jar of spawn a well, will save it for the next tub. Thanks for the casing pointer, appreciate it

Cross post from POTD:
Semperviva MS side by side. Both the same culture, both spawned 43 days ago. One uncased and the other cased around day 30(ish)

Observations so far is that the pins in the uncased tub seem to be on the fatter side with a more sparse pinset. The cased has a plentiful pinset but not as many fatties although there is the odd one or two.
No idea how long these are gunna go but hopefully harvesting in the next week or so, who knows with these things!!
Been giving them a little spritz morning and evening just to try and keep humidity up a bit.

Hmmm, I was reading people encountered difficulty germinating subtropicalis spores after some time.. so decided to make a few T0's.. made a fresh batch of agar today. Recently germinated just fine, so I assume they still will now and once the've germinated store the genetics diversity in cryo vials for (hopefully) many many years to come.

I wish I would have done the same with zapotecorum. I waited 3 weeks after receiving a print from a generous member. Which is failing to germinate.. got a total of 21 uncontaminated plates going.. started out with 1/3 more.. contaminated due to bacteria. But nevertheless I feel so stupid.. I guess the first thing one needs to do is save the genetic diversity prior to growing. So doing that now with this print from CaptainFuture.. would be a pity to let a clean print go to waste from the man himself.

Hopefully not long now. This was 100% colonized and I cased it with a 1/2 inch cv casing. It's been about 4 days and it's eating through it. They're in a 20qt pasty mono.

Harvested this clone tub today, 28 days from spawn. Pretty good considering it’s got some green. Trying the next one with a proper casing. One day I’ll get those canopies like you folks

Thank you! Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw primordia lol. Got lucky with this clone for sure. Though with the quick turnaround, I wonder if they'll be less potent than the slowpokes. Hopefully I'll get to try em next week.

Had some bacterial millet and no bottles that would be free anytime soon so I spawned it to a little tupperware. I forget how long it's been, I've pretty much just ignored it. Got some thick boys though

2nd flush tray from the tent on the right and first flush from shoebox grown outside the tent on the left.
My grow area and tent have been overrun by phorid flies which have spread vert, trich, and/or some other contamination, so this is one of the last grows I'll have for a couple months. I have to completely dismantle everything, build a new tent, bleach everything, etc in order to get back up and running. Of all times for this to happen, this is actually the best time because I'll have a lot of free time later this month due to the holidays. Can't wait to get back up and running again.
