Measure your successes against your failures, not other's successes. You worked hard to get to where you are and will continue working hard to progress even further. Let us appreciate your successes with you, because we understand the dedication it took for you to get here.

No kidding, the more pronounced nipple on those caps are nice as well! Is there a consensus on if fae affects that at all? Got a couple new tubs ready to fruit and hoping to get that definition in the caps this round. But like the rest have said well done Melgo!

Hmm interesting to see the shoebox starting out like spaghetti and growing 'up' halfway. Was the shoebox moved away from the wardrobe (shade) at some point and moved to a place with more light?
Awesome growth thanks for sharing melgro! I'll take the advice into consideration for my next attempt

Thanks Mate! But you'll have to share your results! I'm just too curious of what other people will be able to do with these prints.
Also I've checked my grow log: I've put Semperviva spores to agar for the first time on the 23rd of November 2021... it took me a year to get to such flush, sooo we can say that I'm defo not the best of fastest grower here

Thanks! I don't know about the nipple and FAE tbh.

Thanks! It could be because halfway thought, when I realized this was going to be a success, I started paying more attention to it, and fanning it everyday twice a day with a small electric fan. But I didn't move the shoebox, it stayed on top of the wardrobe, away from the window. It's the only discreet grow space I have in the house. Actually I have a photo of it, and you can see how much light it's receiving:

You bet I'll do it for science 😎
A year is still not a bad learning curve. Took me good 3 times longer to have success with Bisporus.

Thx melgro. Hmmm I was also wondering, what is the consensus regarding the casing? I recall some say casing on the dry side.. other say spray it down.. anyone who can shed some light on this?
Was just wondering about this for my upcoming mono's, was checking out the summary someone shared a while ago and uhm well a bit puzzled about this aspect.

I case them but recently had a shoebox I didn't bother casing and it pinned nicely:

I don't think there a consensus on casing. But I've never managed to get pins without casing. And also, never got pins when spawning and casing at once. Like for coir, I squeeze the fuck out of my casing before applying it. Not more than few drops of water left after that. At the 10 days mark, I spray the casing lightly to get thousands of water pearls on it.
I never spray down the casing. Only the fruits: to avoid their caps to curl up, to help them drop spores. This way I can get nice prints.

I've had the same thought, I never had Semp that dark.

Yeah that’s odd, the pins are shaped like semp but then seem to turn more cube when they get bigger. Should be an interesting tub.
That shoebox is crazy, those got super tall.

STOP THAT! LOL. Every time you tell me it's not what I think it is, you end up being right.
This is actually from a plate I was doing some trich experiments on and I didn't follow my normal labeling for it because I never intended to grow it out, but then I decided to spawn it anyway. I was pretty sure it was semps but it might not be. I guess I'll find out soon enough. It looks just like the semps I have grown in the past from a color standpoint but the pins are so young still, and your eyes seem to be a lot better than mine, based on your track-record lol. We need to get you a "Trusted Identifier" tag too.....
I will say the pic makes these look darker than they are.

Yea mate who knows, pics can lie. The speed of growth and smell will definitely give them away if it's Cubes tho.

Here's the dry/wet side-by-side. Same culture, same ratio, same spawn date. The one on the right is the coir recipe I use for cubes. Fat gnarly fruits, but definitely kinda trash in comparison. Time from spawn to pin was the same, so that theory is out the window. I guess some cultures are just quick to fruit.

Damn that’s night and day difference. Glad I generally make my shit dry, I’m curious if you can estimate how much more wet that one is?

For cubes I still use ~3.75 quarts water to a 650g "brick" of coir as a general reference for scale. The equivalent semp recipe would be 3-3.25 quarts for the same amount of coir. Not a huge difference now that I think about it. Everyone's coir brand is different as well, so that's something to keep in mind.

Wow, that is wild, I've definitely been making mine too wet! Thank you for taking the time to run this experiment. If only I had some jars of spawn ready for bulk...oh wait, I do! I wonder if they'd like some dry-ish straw?
