Are there any countries where shrooms always have been a long standing food tradition, maybe one that's more known then others? "Mushroom land?"

But do you know what your mushrooms are doing? Where are your mushrooms at 10pm? Have you spoken to them about underage drinking?

I've got no idea what the mushrooms are doing half the time much like everyone else. We got a rough idea sure but they do their own thing and sometimes it's mysterious. Like trying to cultivate wood lovers indoors. What do they need that we don't understand?
Mushrooms are a mystery.
Last big trip I was on recently I had some bizarre notion of wondering how it would feel if one were able to keep their hand still enough for days to feel hyphae growing on their skin, probably into it too. I wonder if one could feel a sensation at all as billions of tiny imperceivably small hyphae grew into their skin.
I still maintain fungi have intelligence and are capable of communication in some form or another. Like how mycorrhizal fungi can connect the roots of two plants and if one plant is attacked by a pest the other plant will react.

If anyone of you have played A.T.O.M the Russian fallout type of game, it has a plot heavily related to shrooms and mycelium
I guess Poland has a lot of mushroom culture

The paint can one. No disrespect and I have no evidence to suggest it could contaminate to mushrooms, just one of those pictures you can smell\taste\feel and my subconscious screamed "bad".

It's a waterbased single stage epoxy sealer for garage floors. Oddly enough there's very little in the way of warning about it being toxic. The SDS basically says if you swallow it rinse your mouth out, contact a doctor if you don't feel good after.
No mention of poison control, inducing vomiting, etc.
Never did anything with the mushrooms that kept growing out of that bucket full of paint. They grew plenty big, healthy and never seemed to stop, just kept plucking them off and tossing them in the compost while amused until I finally just tossed the can away. Only reason it happened at all was I broke a jar of spawn and the can was nearby.
Mushrooms do be like that sometimes.
I got cubensis myc colonizing substrate made out of CVG and Omega 3-6-9 softgels right now. Good times.

I was reading a paper on spore germination of Cryptococcus the other day. Had several interesting parts in there I wanted to mention
C. neoformans forms basidiospores, same as P. cubensis. This paper showed that neoformans could form hybrids with deneoformans, with the paper claiming that these two species/subspecies split ~18 million years ago. Mating between the two happens relatively easily, and the hybrids often exhibit different characteristics from the parents.
Has anyone here considered trying to mix 2 Psilocybe sp. spores, or even Psilocybe with another closely related active species, such as Pans? Probably just a stupid idea, but if someone succeeded they'd be legendary.

I sterilize in a 6qt electric pressure cooker, I know the recommended venting is 10 minutes for 22qt canners and thats what i've always done (works like a charm).
But... is it necessary to vent a small PC for that long?
Id say as soon as it stops sputtering. Sort of like popping popcorn in the microwave. Just when theres no more consistent noise

Accidentally hit my foot against my monotub and a promising mushroom was torn right off from the impact
Hopefully everything else is okay, now I’m paranoid as fuck examining everything to see if any mushrooms got dislodged... If none of them are bruising at all can I assume they’re probably fine?

Why does spawn after the shake looks like there is no mycelium on the grains anymore (but obviously there is)
Where does it go? Where does it hide?

First batch of no prep bags of oats looks a bit inconsistent in hydration, but if it is sterile fuck it. Next batch is in but stacked different so as to evenly distribute the water. Might be my new thing if it's aseptic and colonizes adequately. Straight up crush 24-30 bags in 2 prestos with no fuss.

The Panaeolus Cambodginiensis Jamaicans are looking full, at least the 2 that I used 7 cc\ml. The 3 that I put 12 cc\ml are almost there. I will test this again next time to see if 7 cc\ml always colonizes faster than 12 cc\ml on the next batch as well. This is my first go at this and my goal is shrooms by New Years. 4 quick questions:
1. Is it possible to pasteurize manure using the same method as BOD's Bucket TEK?
2. For the B+ and Golden Teacher - the plan is too not use a casing and place them into a water tub as per the link below. Any advice on this is appreciated. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26601054
3. The Pans look really well and filling nicely. I really don't want to pop the lid on these and put a casing of vermiculite or coir only on these, but the whole pasteurizing manure is throwing me off. I have no problems ordering some pasteurized manure, but then I do not know what to do from there. I have Black Cow in the bag, but I am not sure if that can be pasteurized using BOD's Bucket TEK, etc. Is casing in this way almost a guaranteed fail?
4. Once the Pans are cased, I plan to put them into the same Water Tub TEK mentioned above. Has anyone had a similar setup? Any advice?
Thanks for the help.

I don’t think coir would work well to case pans with.
If you have a meat thermometer you can make pasteurizing in a bucket work but you’ll have to monitor it.
I just mix up the sub and then put it in an oven bag and throw it in the instant pot at night and hit the keep warm button and set the timer for like 5-6 hours so it’s cool by morning.

Been wondering about this. Why not? It holds moisture well and cubes are not aversive to it. Is pans mycelium behavior towards coir different?

Coir just isn’t a real casing. It’s fine for cubes because they don’t need to be cased in the first place.
It’s hard to explain you just have to do it enough to get an eye for it but the myc grows differently into peat, especially pans.
