Sipping mushroom tea for a slower onset? * 2
    #27060826 - 11/27/20 09:04 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

I would like to make a mushroom tea tonight But I would want it to hit like it is dry. (I was going to drop 125ug of acid but I start a new job Sunday and would need more time to recover, anyway .) Could I get away with just sipping on a cup of mushroom tea for about 15-20 minutes instead of gulping it all in one go?

I want to take 2 grams tea first and then take another 2 grams after about 2 hours or so. I'm looking for a not too strong experience that will last longer than just 4 or 5 hours. I don't want it to hit "all at once."

Yes sipping it over say half an hour will make for a slower come up.

The tea that you drink 2 hours later will have no effect. It doesn't work that way.

Why is this? I've always been able to eat more mushrooms later which makes me trip a little more. Is it different with tea?

Strongly disagree, especially if on multiple psychs. I was able to make a little less than 7g to match the duration of the LSD I was also on

If I am just snacking on shrooms I love eating an eighth and then eating another cap every hour. Makes for a fun six/seven hours, or more, depending on how much you have

Yes sip on the mushroom tea over 10 to 20 minutes, i usually do 15 minutes. Does make for a smoother come up, i do this with my Mimosa/Acacia (DMT-containing) teas as well, works like a charm.

My trip last night was fucking weird and it almost made me not want to do mushrooms again. Nearly the whole time my stomach felt fucking weird and the whole time I was on an emotional mind-fuck roller coaster and at one point I made myself puke not because I needed to but because I thought it would make me feel better but I still had this warm feeling in my stomach. The whole time I just felt like I was going through an emotional and physical Purge. I don't know why the fuk I felt like this but at one point I was scared I was going to be stuck in a trip forever but I just kept telling myself to calm down and that it is nonsense. I think now that I'm in my mid-30s my body just reacts more strongly to lower doses of psychedelics. I only did 2.15 grams of golden teacher. Sure taught me a fucking lesson. Shit. I like acid much much better than mushrooms.

Sounds pretty normal dude, did you eat them tho? Tea and filtering can help with the stomach issues but the emotional rollercoaster and feeling of purging is part and parcel of the experience. Also being scared of tripping forever is normal, then other times when it feels great wishing you could trip forever! There's times during the come up/cleansing phase of heavy trips where I feel like never touching psychs again, then after the cleansing it feels so great I just laugh at myself as it's the best thing ever.

As for the sipping the tea, I think it will slow it down, I've tried it a few times and it delays the onset. My issue is as soon as the onset starts I just guzzle the rest of it.

@OutsideOfMyMind

Dayum, and that's 2.15g of goldies? Which is just about what people often recommend as a first time dose :shocked2:

Interesting comparison to acid.

What would you do, or recommend doing, differently next time?

If you take 3 grams and then and hour or 2 later take another 3 it will not work. Tolerance has built up. I've done it multiple times with a lot higher doses.

Ever since that 200 microgram LSD trip on August 5th my body has reacted a lot more strongly to lower doses of psychedelics.

I think tolerance is a very personal thing. I have read posts where this one dude said he tripped every 3 days just to test out the whole tolerance thing and he said he was able to trip every 3 days with no loss of quality. He did this for a whole month and then he didn't trip for a really long time after that. I've read about people who take mushrooms and then a few hours later they take maybe a gram or two more and then their hallucinations increase a little bit. I myself have done shrooms and then when my peak is almost over I will eat another gram and it makes me hallucinate a little bit more.

So honestly when it comes to tolerance I think everyone is different. The whole having to wait one or two weeks in between tripping is just a guideline I think. I have read so many different stories about tolerance which makes me believe that the whole tolerance thing is really just a guideline. I think the key is to know yourself, know your dose, know your tolerance, so then you can work with the mushroom more easily.

No that's definitely wrong. Tolerance doesn't work like that.

If someone told you they can trip every 3 days they are 100% lying. People aren't "different" when it comes to stuff like this. It works the same for everyone. It's like saying I can smoke 5 bowls a day for 30 days and then 2 days later I can pass a drug test for cannabis because "that's just how my body works". Again, that's not a thing.

That's not a very nuanced take on the subject lol.

If tolerance and receptor down regulation weren't variable between people, it'd be reasonable to assume everyone would become addicted to a given substance after the same amount of time using it, as addiction is generally believed to be a result of down regulation.

This is not the case, however. One person might smoke cigarettes for a month and develop an addiction, while another could smoke the same amount of cigarettes over the same period and not have any signs of dependence.

Since tolerance to LSD is also a symptom of receptor down regulation, specifically the 5Ht2a receptors, it stands to reason that different people would develop tolerance at different rates.

It was some dude on the shroomery a long time ago. He said that he wanted to test the whole tolerance thing and the whole "you need to wait one week in between trips bla bla" thing and so he did mushrooms every 3 days just to test the hypothesis and he was able to get a full trip each time. That is according to his anecdote. not everyone is like that. Some people need a whole week some people need two weeks. But tolerance is not the same for everyone.

Ive found the best slow onset with shrooms is drinking a shroom smoothie.

Check this out https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27038117

Did you sip on the tea over a long period of time? That might make the comeup more gradual and prolong the comeup anxiety. Anyways, the lower the dose the better it is to get it in your blood asap.
I came to this thread initially to warn you not to do 2g +2g 2hrs later as it would be wasted or slightly uncomfortable. Same goes for any dose + redose in an hour or something. I have found the comeup too rough and long that way, however I have only done that once and that was when I was starting out with shrooms.
Anyways, take a proper 3g-3.5g dose and get back in there with a proper trip !

Yeah and I don't believe him at all. 100% made up.
