Tips for getting PE to pin?

I have these two PE cakes going and previously they dried out because I had them in a SGFC that was much too big for them. So dunked them and the mycelium has covered them back up, I have them in this ziploc with holes poked in every 2 inches and I give a light mist at the start of the day. However, I know this strain is notoriously difficult to work with from what I have seen so are there any tips or just treat them like normal?

You're gonna want to put a barrier between the cakes and the perlite. Perlite absorbs moisture and may have been a contributing factor to why they dried out the first time. A piece of tinfoil will suffice.

I don't believe that PE are hard to work with. They grow well and easily. (APEs seem a bit harder on the other hand when doing brf cakes but not by much. They just tend to have a low yield so grabbing a good clone for APEs is important).
Note: I don't fruit cakes anymore as bulk is much easier but the one APE cake I tried to fruit for science failed. I had no problem in bulk and my APEs/PE love to start pinning in the jars. APEs/PE seem to do well going brf cakes to bulk.
Long story short: treat it like any other cake. Make sure it has adequate FAE, a nice micro-climate, 12 on/ 12 off light cycle and that water is evaporating off the surface as it is a pinning trigger.

PE can take 20 days to pin. I don't do cakes, but I believe PE doesn't like cakes in general.

Nah that's just a myth based on someone growing PE on cakes, not having a good results and then blaming the variety instead of his/her growing/fruiting method/process My PE cakes a finishing colonizing this week, I'll update here if I remember

. . . . .
PE does just fine on cakes but ppl think that doing a dunk at birth is enough to get a high flushing variety that pins late to put out a good flush. You need to be able to add water to the cakes late in the game without redunking them.. I do that by using a thicker double ended casing of verm so that I can soak the verm layers if the cake seems to be getting dry.. I check it every couple days after a week in the FC. Should feel about the weight of a baseball. Bottom watering would work too but I like the verm layers

Wow those cakes look awesome. I tried growing 🦧 on cakes b4 but I failed. I’m gonna give it another try but this time do a mono tub. Does anyone know a vendor with good genetics for apes? Please message me a link if you do. I would really appreciate it. 🙏🏼

Christ man... that SGFC is SUPER dialed in.. Maybe its my dry climate, but even with a few grows under my belt I can't get results anywhere close to that out of my SGFC. Tell me your secrets! 😂
