Help please – mono trouble :(

Not sure best path forward here and I’d love to get a bit more out of my first tubs. I have 2 tubs, both have similar “flushes”.

Would it be a good idea to dunk the blocks? Maybe I let them dry out too much? I’ve had a difficult time judging the moisture levels. They’ve been going for about 4 ½ weeks.

They look just fine, multispore inoculations may give inconsistent results.

Thats why people clone or isolate, to get better flushes with more consistency.

There's nothing you can do, if its been a few flushes you could add 1/8 cup water to let it hydrate And also mist a bit

Looks really dry you could dunk it but a substrate will only fruit for so long.  It may be a good idea to start a steady stream of tubs to get new tubs coming in every few days.

I should have been clearer, this is the first flush. I did 3 agar transfers too.

My best guess is that the low yield is due to an obvious noob mistake around moisture management. Don't know what if anything can be done to get some decent fruit.

Thanks

It doesnt matter if it is a first flush.

3 transfers doesnt mean anything it is still multispore inoculation. Isolations take dozens of transfers. And it is not a clon either, it could be just genetics.

Make sure to maintain proper suface conditions

:whathesaid:

Even if you used agar, if the original culture came from spores or a spore syringe then you have no way of knowing if the fee transfers you did were of a high yield culture.

I did use a spore print and it seemed a little slow throughout the grow (to my inexperienced eyes anyway). I'll just attribute it to the learning curve.

Just need to get comfy with monitoring the surface conditions. One day it seems dry to me, the next too wet. I may try no casing layer next time, seems like it might be a little easier to inspect.

Thanks for the advice.
