Hangovers? Nope.
    #27066959 - 12/01/20 06:52 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

I drink heavily with friends and randoms and all kinds of people. I've never met anyone like me in terms of hangovers and im wondering why.

For some reason when I drink.... not only do I not have hangovers the next morning.... I tend to wake up SUPER early. I'll drink until 1AM and I'll wake up at 5 or 6 AM feeling refreshed.

In fact.... this is so reliable that on days where I have accidentally stayed up late and need to wake up early for a job or interview or something important.... I will actually drink so that I wake up early. Literally. So if its 12 midnight and I have to get up at 7 AM.... instead of going to bed at 12... I'll drink for an hour instead. Get super pissed. And go to sleep. I'll wake up before the alarm even goes off too.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with my use of psychedelics and the strong mind game I'm capable of? I dont know exactly how to describe the "strength" of my mind. But I can control an Acid trip you know? Not let it get out of hand... can grab reality if needed and stay grounded.

Does anyone else have this with alcohol?

I used to exactly like you. Exactly like you, including the waking up early part and everything.

And then I got to my late 20s, and now I wake up feeling like I lost a fist fight to a truck.

Well, I don't -always- get hung over, it kind depends on how drunk/what I'm drinking. I also don't drink that much anymore, so there's that as well.

Yep, and it gets worse year on year too. It used to be so easy to be up and at em every day no matter what was done the night before.

At least I'm wiser, I'll say that!

I'm actually in my 30s. I used to have hangovers years and years ago. I just dont have them any more.

But clearly its not from psychedelic experiences since obviously yall woulda had experience with psychs?

Your alcohol tolerance has a lot to do with genetics and your physical fitness, specifically muscle mass. If you are descendant from Europe, Vikings, Russians, any place that had early access to alcohol, you already have an advantage. It's along the same lines of being able to process lactose. TMK, alcohol is metabolized in the liver and again, genetics, fitness level, and possibly even diet; since fewer toxins would be less load, these will influence how quickly you metabolize alcohol. Hydration also helps A LOT.

If you have a lot of muscle mass, you will have a higher tolerance, exercise reduces sensitivity to intoxication and reduces cell death due to alcohol intoxication. Since alcohol is more soluble in water, you essentially have more space for the alcohol before you feel drunk.

This is why I could drink people under the table despite never having been a heavy drinker and my only alcohol being champagne, wine, etc, at special events. Genetics, and living in a gym. That said, there were two instances where I was hungover. My first time drinking to excess, in which I drank around half a handle of vodka and was blacking in and out all night and puking chow mein across my room mates bed. The other time was when I was abducted / coerced into going to a strip club, being mildly hungover the next day but entirely -- mostly, functional.

Then again, maybe you have just adapted to pounding the booze.

Kinda creepy that you are basically defining me inadvertently. I exercise heavily and I drink a lot of water. I am obsessed with weights and staying hydrated. Also keeping a pretty decent body builder style diet.

The waking up early thing has to do with your blood sugar levels. Basically if your liver starts metabolizing alcohol it stops metabolizing glucose, but once it finishes metabolizing the alcohol your blood glucose will crash as the liver begins working normally again.

The waking up early is because he has to piss, been there done that, DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU CONTINUE THIS PATTERN OF ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR TO YOUR BODY.

If you do it may start to catch up with you at some point.

It will catch up to you. You wake up early because when you're hammered you don't get your rem cycles. They get suppressed. It's not too weird to wake up feeling great but you'll eventually have to maintain being an alcoholic to stay feeling good
