Question about field capacity
    #27066431 - 12/01/20 02:00 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

So we have been using this
650g coco
160g verm (what we weighed up from 2 pints)
50g gypsum
And 4L of water to pasturize

When i squeeze it hard after 12 or so hours of pasteurization i only get a few drops (using the boiled water into a bucket method), shouldnt i get more of a stream when squeezed heavily? Am i measuring improper or are my ratios off

No no that's exactly what you want. A few drops should come out when you squeeze really hard.

If you followed your above measurements it'll be enough for field capacity.

Everyone has their own little version of Field Capacity, to some its a small steady stream, to others its a few drops.
For me I don't even test Field Capacity anymore
I know that 4-5qts boiled water to 650g coir and 2qts verm will net you Field cap every time.

Keep in mind that an under hydrated sub can be a big problem since mushrooms are 90 water. I like a small steady stream for a few seconds then it stops. I don't measure it out I just eyeball it.

:whathesaid:
Honestly speaking overhydrated sub is better than underhydrated.
Sometimes I don't even need to mist or rehydrate my tubs for two whole flushes.
