Is your pasty plate filtered with poly?

I’ve only ever had that with tissue samples. They all worked out fine just took a couple days to get going.

nope, just micropore tape. i’ve never had any issues before. it’s rare i even get visible contamination on my plates

this plate is a tissue sample too, glad it’s not too damning. i noticed this happening a little on a MS plate as well, but not nearly to the same extent.

my first thought was some sort of contam. totally possible. i was planning on taking a few transfers anyways so i’m not too worried if this is the case

Apologies for reviving an old thread. But I'm wondering how your culture turned out, since I'm seeing the same very spiky myc on my (somewhat wet) agar.

no worries man! shit, i don’t remember exactly. i think it turned out fine. let it grow out & take a transfer. i believe it was because it was from some mushroom tissue & not agar to agar.
