start with them right-side up. After 50 to 75 percent colonization you can remove the tape from the holes (the mycellium is strong enough at this point) and flip upside down. This drains out any C02 and helps speed up colonization.

So when you birth the cake do you leave it upside down or should you flip it rightside up?

It doesn't really matter after you birth them. Unless they already have pins. Take a look at my pictures milkman.

keep them on the same side as they were when they were colonizing is what i was told.. they said cuz the shrooms will try to grow into the ground and not up if you dont..
