Hi guys. Currently have 2 x 1.25kg (5.5lbs total) Rye Grain bags colonizing (B+)
I plan on introducing them to a coco bulk substrate when they are finished but am wondering whether you guys would recommend I do two separate transfers (like 2 shoebox teks?) or just introduce them into one big bulk substrate container.
What would be the most efficient way? I am thinking of doing two separate containers as I would imagine this would reduce risk of contam and everything having to be thrown in the bin in case something goes wrong - would this affect yield in any way?
Also, what size containers would be optimal for either of these methods?
Here's some pics of the bags currently (ignore the text);

Seeing a bit of blueness now after shaking the bags.. Is this normal bruising or do I have now have something to worry about?
Also, the temps in the room fluctuate between approx 16-23 celcius, will this be an issue besides it taking longer than usual to colonize?

I would just put it all in one larger monotub. More surface area = higher yield. I really only like to use shoeboxes when hunting for phenotypes. As for the blueing, that is normal to see after shaking so nothing to worry about. 16 Celsius is a bit low for colonization so those fluctuations could be slowing your mycelium down a bit. I would try to maintain the temps around 23-24 degrees Celsius if possible.

Thanks guys I'll do my best to keep them around 20-24 C whenever possible
Also very relieved to hear about the bluing after shaking!!
I understand that the mycelium colonization rate is optimal at those temps but I would like to know in general if mycelium can be actually harmed in any way by low temps or does the growth simply take longer? For example, does the mycelium get 'stressed' under low temps causing lower yields or less resistance to contam?

If you take your temps to extreme highs or lows it can damage the mycelium but, the ranges you're talking about will simply slow things down
