Shoot I just saw that somewhere. I forget. Turned tallways with saran on the opening to allow for height.
So aka what are you going to do first in front of your hood? Whatchu got in the works over there?

I’ve considered dubtubbing my 120qt SAB above an unmodded tub of the same variety. Keep them from moving by using either magnets or run bolts through lined up holes in the rim. Haven’t seen it through just yet. Not sure how gap free they’ll line up when paired.

Man I don’t even know.
I didn’t maintain my cultures over summer so I’m kinda just messing with a few ufo, tamp and natalensis clones lately. For whatever reason I only slanted two cultures so I’ve got to go back to spore and clone hunt/slant a bunch of varieties again.
I’ll probably pour some plates and then go crazy expanding and knocking up jars. I just got enigma and Melmak tp going recently and made lc for those plus whyte gold and Jalisco this morning.
Whatever happens im pretty sure the next few months are going to produce a ton of mushrooms and be one of the rare times every jar and tub I own is in use and I have to stack them strategically so there’s a path across the room.

I’m just as excited for you to get a hood as you are lol. Those first couple sessions of working in front the hood all stressful and holding your breath... then eventually you learn what all you can get away with and get super laxed.. I could never go back to a SAB.. it would be tam city 🤣

It doesn't take much to imagine it lol. It is essentially just making a "dub-tub" out of two SABs using hole covers for whatever holes you won't currently be using. Double-Deckers make back work a cinch.
It makes what used to feel cramped seem downright cavernous, and it was so simple I was dumbfounded I hadn't thought of, or seen it before.
I may not have been the first to do it, but I haven't seen it in action anywhere else.

The need for a SAB in certain situations makes it a MUST for ayone doing mushroom work. Moldy plate But wanna make a xfer? Gonna do it in front of the LFH?? Fuck no. You bust out our SAB For Last strain in the world saving but contam fear is high. Everyone needs a sab and sab skills every once in a while. Stamets... I am sure he still has a sab he still uses occasionally (Blows off 2 inch of dust from top of sab). I'm sure of it... Right?

I havent touched my SAB in at least 4 years.
If you have a moldy plate, save it for last and transfer right after turning off your hood. Air should still be clean enough to do a few transfers open air. Done this many times with no issues

What about taking prints in front of a hood, though? I do mine in shoeboxes but just playing devils advocate because I was wondering this the other day.

I take prints in shoeboxes or inside of regular tubs with the lid on and holes taped.

You should shoot vendor spore solution into a gallon of honey LC and then noc up 100 bags without testing the LC!
