Portable customized mass spec. pulls in already volatized air particles and scans then against a known data base. Mostly looking for explosive residue, but large TICs on drugs will get you busted. My friend invented the base instrument (for air pollution) LEO repurposed it for terrorists.

There are bomb sniffers at airports but not drug sniffers (besides dogs). the tsa doesn't use anything but dogs to sniff for drugs at airport's Also they don't sit and watch you if they think you have drugs. They just rip your shit open and look.

It's all security theater, or at least it was at first. Fake bomb detectors were common not just in airports but also war zones. People died as a result.

I'm not sure flying with drugs is a right or a liberty, but as mentioned, the post is your best bet.

The candle is a bad idea because they specifically look for stuff inside of what should be a uniform material. They will see a solid object (candle) expected to be uniform with pockets of non uniformity. You could apply something like gold leaf or other metalic material on the outside or mixed in to block the xrays but they may consider this suspect and want to cut it open or put it through another method of checking.
Emptying pills and filling them would be my go to method for a personal amount, larger amount should probably just be vacuum sealed in mylar bags and posted express mail to destination. Business people often send presentations and marketing materials to their destination hotels so it is not uncommon but call the hotel first for any special instructions.

an extended family member was also involved in the fabrication of some of the specialized components of these after 9/11, said he made enough to buy a new 35' boat off the job. They also use the swabing technique where they swab your luggage and feed the swab into a machine. You would be foolish to believe these machines are set to only detect explosives.
Dogs on the other hand are trained for one or the other.

Why wouldn't they just look in the wallet. He also said the tsa then watched him for 10 minutes so yea... I don't believe a thing he has to say anymore anyway
