Will you get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible?

I will. The potential for vaccine side effects doesn't scare me even close to as much as COVID-19 does.
Many people seem to be concerned about the fact that it uses a mRNA based tech.
Plenty of new technologies have been used in vaccines already with minimal attention. It used to use whole-cell pertussis, now it's split cell. Some vaccines use conjugate or recombinant technologies. Others use attenuated pathogens. Only with the pandemic microscope does the general public even hear of this new method. I trust the science and look to the scientists I trust to tell me those research tenets have been met.

Luckily they are testing it on old people, doctors, and billionaires before we ever get a chance to try it.

Absolutely. My wife is 6 months pregnant so I hope she can get it really soon. It's pretty bad luck that she's going into third trimester right as covid is spiking like never before. I'm ready for this to be over.

I don't think pregnant women can receive it.

I don't think it's realistic that the public should expect it before summer.
You have 17 million healthcare workers 1.8 million active military 52 million over the age of 65 .7 million law enforcement officers 1 million firefighters
3 million with a networth greater than $5million dollars.
so that's about 20% of the population in those priority groups. Probably a bunch of the millionaires are senior citizens. 74 million people, each needing the intial shot, and the follow up booster doses and they are cranking out about 3 million a month right now. It's still a long fucking way away for you and me. It will ramp up and get faster, but I wouldn't expect it before the 4th of July.

STAL.
Front line people need and deserve it more than me. I can work from home for another year and while I’ll be fatter at the end it doesn’t compare to the stresses the front line folk see.

I will not. I'm going to be at the tail end of social acceptability with regards to when I will get it

Most workplaces will require it. Healthcare settings and a lot of schools require flu and the typical other vacines so it's not a new concept. It just makes sense logistically, they'd rather require something that a couple karens may quit over than deal with employees out sick and possible bad press and/or lawsuits.
I'll be working with covid patients so will likely get it fairly soon. I'm pretty excited for society to start getting back to normal.

Yeah, front line workers and the rich will get to test it out for the rest of us schmucks. Not that I'm all that concerned about it having any negative long terms issues.

Well I'll get it once it's available, but that wont be immediately since I live in Canada and would not be top priority as a young person not working in healthcare. Plus it'll be tested on millions of americans before it ever gets to me, not that I'm concerned about the vaccine anyway

I already had the rona early on before there was much info about it - as I was in very high human density environments dancing a lot in close quarters with people.... and my body rekt it super quickly because body awareness and knowing when things feel off balance inside myself very early on and knowing what steps to support my body in crushing any intruders immediately rather than realizing 3 days after the initial symptoms appear that an infection has set in and being liek oh shit maybe I should do uhh something.
Truth is our societies immunological practices are pretty weak, our preventative practices are abysmal and if you have any awareness of your body, awareness of what illness feels like as it takes hold, what steps to take, how to prepare yourself beforehand - something like covid is about as intimidating as the flu... which with those previous awarenesses is not very intimidating.
Probably comes across as kind of condescending but g'damn we gotta da work for ourselves folks... learn how to be healthy - because no one is going to just hold your hand around and tell you how to do everything.
But a solid diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, qi gong, sunshine, and a minimal stress life are a great place to start(:
That all said - I don't have any problem taking precautions that make other people feel more safe or whatever, so I'm not one of those anti-mask crusaders or anything. I just think the overall approaches are pretty poor, silly, and weaken us as a herd. The doctors really don't seem to be out there telling people to live healthier so they have more resilient bodies... they're just like... WASH UR HANDS N COVER UR MOUTH.
And I'm not going to vaccinate. No need for me to inject anything in my system ... I very much doubt if I encountered it again there would be any reason that I'd react poorly to it and my body wouldn't be able to eradicate it in short order.

I keep hearing the "why is no one talking about the immune system" take or people wondering why no one is telling us to take supplements or be healthier. That's really just because public health officials and experts are there to speak based upon data, and there is very little data right now on any sort of healthy practices that help against covid, apart from hand washing, distancing, and masks. There's plenty of preliminary data on certain things and other things that seem like common sense, but if they're not something proven then that's really not what we want our public health officials to be touting. Promoting unproven covid defenses could at best be a waste of time and at worst could lead to people who partake in these practices mistakenly thinking they're somehow more immune or better protected, and forgoing the proven methods.
Not being overweight is one proven way to improve outcome odds with Covid, but how likely is it that people are going to listen to dr fauci if he tells them to start cutting their daily calorie intake and exercise more? How many obese people would freak out and starve themselves, possibly making their body weaker and more at-risk if they thought their lives were in danger and the government or doctor was telling them to lose weight to improve their survival chances? It's a fine line..
You could argue that simple messages like stop smoking and eat better could be parroted, but even with those there's not any data saying any dietary changes or I think even stopping smoking will effect your outcome odds. Those are messages our government already pumps out anyway, and they take away from promoting the proven things like masks/hand washing/distancing. It's a lot eaeier to strap a piece of cloth over your face than make major lifestyle changes and in doing so tackle all the psychological/addictive factors that go into them, yet somehow even wearing masks is asking too much of a lot of people.
Age and obesity are the primary risk factors, followed by other co-existing conditions. Other than that it seems largely to be a dice roll, you have homeless meth addicts beating it like it's nothing while college athletes in perfect health are coming down with heart conditions. Even people who never have symptoms are winding up with permanent lung/heart damage or blood clots later on. There's no one singular "immune system" that can be fine tuned against this virus, it'll often find any point of vulnerability.
