Theoretically it seems possible. Anyone actually done this successfully with no issues? I am testing some bags now and will store for 4 weeks and will then inoculate them.

Really you're just giving contams more time to get a foot hold. Even with the colder temperature. I'd also imagine that the moisture level would be a little odd from the bags sitting for so long.
I personally don't see the point in risking the material and work and would just prepare things as you need them.

If it's sterile you can leave it on the floor for 4 weeks with no problems. Even been done in a thread...

I will raise my hand as having done that myself. I've had grain bags sit awaiting the day they would get inoculated for a month. Drier than I would have liked, and slightly slower to colonize, but they did just fine.

Thanks for the responses guys. I guess it's the old debate whether or not grains are actually fully sterilized or are they just sterilized enough to give the myc a head start.
The reason i ask about cold storage is we make grain bags for other people as well for their own projects and it would be easier for my staff to make a bunch and then put them in the fridge rather than made to order.

You haven't had the experience required to know how long you can have a grain bag sitting around or if your sterilization is sufficient to let them sit that long and you are selling them to people?

I am holding out hope you are better than the many other yokels selling people bad bags and plenty of heartache.
Seems like everyone is cashing in on the home mycology trend lately. Everyone and their dog sells "supplies". I just sent some fraud on etsy a DM calling them on their overpriced, no-way-it-would-ever-work piles of trash (they had a "Still Air Box" with an completely open front and a FAN in the back...)
I am going to go crawl back under my rock now...

@Your Daddy - terribly assuming response you have. Unproductive to say the least.
The question was about refrigerated bags shelf life. Maybe you need a lesson in information assimilation. You seem like a compliant seeker. Save your comments and do go crawl back under your rock.
I wasnt going to justify your comment with a response but i feel its necessary. You know NOTHING about my experience and/or length of time I have been doing this do you?
I thought so...

I would expect you to have a grasp of this before you begin to sell said products.
