Best and fastest way to cut up Straw?

I have a bag of straw that I need to cut up to make my Horse P and straw bulk substrate.
What is the fastest way to cut the straw up? I tried to use a large plastic container and pair of hand garden cutter. It can be done but its hard work and it done one cut at a time. Is there some mechanical way i could do this? Maybe get a tree care company with a wood chipper to chop up the straw into smaller pieces?
Thanks

I've heard someone put a bunch in a barrel and used a weed whacker.

I used a wheedwhacker in a 60qt horsefeed tub and put a moving blanket over it. Worked great! I will note however, that there is an ideal amount of straw you want in your tub: Too little and it just blows all around bc there's not enough resistance to have it make contact w the strings. Too much and it will bog the trimmer and/or create pockets of unchopped straw in the corners bc the tub contents aren't moving around enough. Play around w it and you'll see what i mean.

thanks Jim. I do have a weed wacker..... Have see how I use it on the bag of straw though. Maybe put all the straw into a large cardboard box and see if it does the trick.

The other thing I was thinking of doing was using my Jig saw with an extra long blade on it.
I bought the blades to cut up the large coco coir block. Did the job but boy did it make a huge mess of dust... Took ages to clean the place up..... Not doing that again. Better to use a handsaw for wood instead...

Years ago I bought an electric leaf mulcher, which is basically an enclosed weed whacker on a stand. It works pretty well for straw if you don't feed it too fast. They run about $130.

i was thinking about getting one of these. not for the myco-hobby, but for gardenwork in general. ALTHOUGH i'm shure they do the best job for cutting straw the way germanshaman wants to.
@germanshaman: na guck, passt doch. just don't put it in a cardboard, it's going to break. don't you have a lawn mower? just put the straw on the ground and go over it with the mower. done. AND a perfect oportunity to clean the mower before to prepare for winter when it is not used.

Ok, so I used my "Weed Wacker" to cut up the straw. I had a large cardboard box that did not take too much of a battering. It created a lot of dust....
I still have a few longish straws in there. I was wondering, could I use my paper document shredder... It has a cross cutting mechanism as well!!!!
I think I will try that.
I will also try spraying some water into the box before I pick out the straw so as to avoid creating so much dust. The straw is going to go into ground up Horse manure any how and then be pasteurized...

After a lot of reading on the subject these all seem like good ideas! I've heard of the weed whacker (trimmer) method but a lawnmower sounds awesome!
I own a Lawncare and Landscaping business so it shouldn't be too hard to get it done. My guys might look at me a little weird when I drop a few bales off the tailgate and tell em to get busy though lol!

If you have a bale shredder that would work perfect
