agar question
    #27059052 - 11/26/20 05:17 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Will decreasing the LME from 10 grams to 5 grams help promote rhizomorphic mycellium rather than cottony mycelium? I have read from others that it helps by forcing the mycelium to search for the nutrients.  Anybody have any 1st hand experience trying this?
Thanks for any help

Yes, that's the idea. It works for me however, I noticed I can get away with even less than half the required amount of LME.  3 grams out of the required 10, per say.  IME you have to take a lot of the LME out to get the mycelium to really stretch unless you already have a fast growing culture.

The myth that rhizomorphic growth  is better than tomentose growth has been disproven. In fact the more.potent strains have only tomentose growth.

Lowering your amount of nutrients will mormally.cause faster growth but weaker.growth. normally ill make half.plate with regular amount half.plates with half.nutrients

When im going from a s.s
I will start on a 50% plate and do my first transfer to another 50% plate and continue if I want to until im.making the plate i actually want to use ill use a fully nutrient plate

But I us emy entire plate to inoculate.liquid culture and blend it with a grar stir bar so that way it grows insanely fast.

And with.liquid culture if you let it sit for like a week after full.colpnozation it will rip theu the substrate
