Kinda crazy.  You have two posts.  Your first one was 9 years ago on thanksgiving and talking about azzies.  Trippy man

Yes I know. It's been a while since I posted or hunted. I go on Thanksgiving to avoid workers. So happy my secret site is still producing. It's crazy that currently its a felony if I get caught picking these but starting next year in Oregon it will only be a misdemeanor. Still a hassle but much less so.

I know there are other hunters here in my neighborhood, but I don't think this patch is being watched by anyone else. To that end I'd like to do my best to help care for the patch and do what I can for it to thrive - even if that's leaving it alone for the most part.

Would anyone be willing to point me to the right board or thread to research maintaining spots, creating slurries to try and propagate to new locations, etc.? I'd certainly appreciate any advice here. Thank you and I wish everyone well!

So.. there really isn't one.  I'm the one that left that note in a previous post when I saw that someone had been to the patch that I started - but also noticed that they were being totally respectful (using scissors, not taking pins, etc.).  But sadly that's not how everyone rolls.

A couple of weeks ago I was in Seattle at a pretty popular place and my girlfriend and I had found a pretty nice patch.  There was someone hanging around who didn't look like a hunter and I thought it was too sketchy so we went and got a couple of slices of pizza and headed back.. to find the patch was totally ass raped by someone else who probably saw us looking at them.

In short, there's going to be people that are totally cool and respectful of patches they find, and there are going to be shit lamps who dig everything up with a shovel and take it home with them.  It's a mixed bag - I try to be as respectful as possible, but I'm also aware that some people just suck and the next time I come back to a patch I've found, that someone might have destroyed it.

I've never met or have had any previous contact with Psilopsychic and wasn't expecting him/her to post that note here - but I'm glad they did. It would be cool if other people were as respectul and understand that there's a community out there of fellow hunters, and that when you find something, you have two choices: you can either take everything and destroy it for the rest of the season, or you can "farm" the patch and hope that others are as respectful as you are. Cyan's usually flush 2 - 3 times per season so.. it's worth keeping them healthy and only taking the large ones when you see them.  And it's good karma not being a dick

The patches I've been "farming", all of which I was the first person to find this season, have all gotten absolutely destroyed. Sometimes to the point of not even being able to recognize the spot...

My attitude was basically, well if I found this because of those pretty matures, I better leave some for everyone else. This is invariably leading to the patches being killed though... like I even saw someone shoveled out a bunch of sand from under the dune grasses at one spot. The same person (I assume, since there was nothing left in the spot to even make you think there was a patch there) also raped the patch and killed all the pins a week prior.

So in short, I don't really know wtf these people's end goal is. They're killing patches just to get 5 grams off of them all at once instead of 3 now and then being patient and getting even more later. I'm just hoping somehow these inconsiderate fucks are spreading myc, but I doubt it.

Really considering leaving notes. Also really reconsidering the "generosity". I'll probably just do my best to hide everything from now on. Just sucks that some people are such shitters

Ugh, same here. I knew it was only a matter of time until my local patches were destroyed. It’s not always pickers though. As I write this I am watching a group of 8 parks workers (i assume) hacking at the mycelium of one of my patches. No joke. I think they are planting native species to the area. Shitty situation. I found 3 patches in this area and they are all pretty dead now despite me leaving at least 50% of the mushrooms. At another location I left probably 90% of the mushrooms, came back a few days later and it was picked dry. Covering with leaves only gets you so far. People suck. I might write notes now too lol.

Sry for double post. On another note, one of my old patches from 7 years ago started fruiting again. It was dead for a few years after the area was mowed down. Now the grass is coming back and I’m seeing fruits again! Also, I’ve noticed at a lot of my spots I see this poop nearby. I think it’s rabbit poop. This time it was a few feet from the mushrooms. Should I be worried about consuming them?

Lol nah brother. If anything the poop is helping the soil with nutrients. Shouldn’t effect your fruits in any way.

psilocybe pellicyloza and look alike, and baby pellies

forgot my good camera sorry guys they were just popping 250 ft elevation maybe less along edge of a power line and back into the woods, under evergreen huckleberries in mixed older growth hemlock-cedar-spruce-fir forest.  the best way i can identify them is the gills have a purple sheen and when you gently pinch the cap the pellicle comes off entirely like a stretchy contact lens, even on the babies. they are hard to see among all the mycena and galerina and who knows whatever's that look nearly identical until you get your eyes right. will get better pics next time

also the blue bruising is right on the outside layer of the stem its a thin membrane like a slimy coating don't pinch them or try to bruise them just look close at the stem with a hand lens and be gentle picking

Found a really good patch of P. Cyans today with a bunch of monsters growing in there.

I've been finding a bunch that have been turning light brown from being in the sun, are those still ok to eat?
