Outdoor Ps Cyans Stem Butt Cultivation: Best Practices
    #27058597 - 11/26/20 11:29 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Hello guys,

For the past two years I’ve been trying to start my own ps cyanescens outdoor patch, but every time it dies before spring. I’ve been using stem butt tek and trying to use cardboard but it always fails. I’ve also tried blending up shrooms in water and spraying it on wood chip beds, and burying single mushrooms with the mycelium attached. Nothing has worked.

I’ve been doing research and reading the outdoor cultivation of wood lovers thread. It seems like most people are doing LC and agar, then spawning onto wood using sterile technique. Unfortunately, my living situation doesn’t allow me to do that, I have to be far more discreet.

For my situation, is trying to spawn stem butts to cardboard/egg cartons and then to wood chips before planting it in spring still the best option? Do any people find success with this method? Or should I wait a few years until my living situation allows for LC and agar?

Thanks!

Stembutt methods are hit or miss just because of the lack of food , grain gives them a good jump.
Keep trying just mix your xhips with coir or vem after you got a decent amount of colonized chips.
Chips dry easy the coir and verm will help

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn

Hi bazook, I sympathize with you - I know what it's like to be restricted in terms of cultivation. From my personal experience, starting wood-lover patches from stem butts directly onto fresh chips (or Scott's Mulch) in the autumn works better than stem butts on egg cartons or on cardboard. Lately, I have been using stem butts and some colonized substrate from the main patch to extend my patches. Good luck! R_D
