Question: Mushroom blackout experience?

I'm relatively new to mushrooms. The last couple of times I took about 1 gram of Golden Teacher mushrooms (reasonably reputable source), I had this strange experience. Hard to describe, but I'll give it my best shot. In the middle of having a beautiful trip experience, it suddenly feels as if my vision "narrows" and if my brain is starting to "shut down", and it's almost temporarily as if I "black out". This lasts just a second or so, but it is terrifying in it's own way. What's worse, I can feel it coming on, and then if I concentrate really hard (as in, mindfulness), it doesn't happen. But then I'm still super anxious, and it feels as if a disaster has been averted. Anybody had a similar experience or some advice for me?
I would really appreciate that :-)
Background: I'm a guy, mid-thirties, otherwise healthy. Probably a little sleep-deprived. I normally take mushrooms after eating something, so doesn't seem to be a blood pressure or blood sugar-related problem. I have to take mushrooms on my own due to local covid lockdown :-(

might be a shot in the dark, but are you sleepy and about to sleep in on mushrooms maybe?

I've had black outs with high doses especially. Sometimes it's like I get sucked into another realm and my mind separates from my body. Maybe it's something like that just not a high enough dose to really "launch"
I find that I often get anxiety on small doses because I am sober enough to fight the trip. If your source is reputable, I would try not to worry. Sometimes looking up the LD-50 of something can help, because you can talk yourself out of the paranoia that can be caused in a psychedelic state.
Happy trips

Do you also sweat and get pale? The tunnel vision and the sudden black out are typical of a panic attack.
I almost always experience an uncomfortable push on a full dose of shrooms, with a similar sense of tunnel vision and needing to lay down and close my eyes. Most often this is in conjunction with consuming too much thc, especially dabs or joint after joint after joint
I used to do shrooms and go to phish shows indoors and three times suffered from panic like attacks that caused me to basically sit catatonic eyes closed, one time puked too. This is like half an eight doses. I learned from this and stopped doing that much indoors. Indoors it feels claustrophobic and becomes too much.
Outdoors though i can usually pull through because it is easy to find a place to lay down and then i can work through a few minutes of discomfort.
The one thing I have found that effectively quells this for me is a half dose of mdma or adderall prior to the shrooms, cocaine also but at full dose.
P.s. this has become my favorite way to do shrooms.

Hmmm that's a very good point. Every time it has happened I was really, really tired. In fact, I was too tired to be doing anything other than chilling at home, and ended up taking mushrooms. Will make sure I'm more rested next time, thanks for the suggestion :-)

That's also really an interesting point - every time I had this experience I was in fact on a relatively small dose compared to what I have taken before. So it might indeed be the case that it isn't a high enough dose to "launch." And I definitely had the experience of "fighting the trip" each time.
Thanks for the suggestion :-)
